With due respect, I think you are all wrong, the bottom is dropping out in the low and mid range. The problem is that the democratization of technology inevitably results in clients accepting lower quality to get it low cost or even free. And we are all guilty. Remember production up the 2000’s? How many of you are are booking audio sweetening or color correction facilities? Or hiring a writer? Or a transcriber? Or an on-set still photographer? Or a lighting truck for even the small projects? Been hiring that steadycam guy recently? We dumped the expensive outsiders to do it ourselves with generic tools because its cheaper. Our clients are going to do it to us.

Since you work for a corp, this may not mean anything to you, but the Canon will retain huge resale value, and the AF100 will be yesterdays story in just one year. Right now, 4 year old Mark 2’s are selling for 80% of their original price – because there is a huge used still camera market out here. Video cameras typically lose their value very, very quickly.

June 26, 2007 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Poll – how to make a “trippy” or “druggie” POV experience with filters?Great suggestions.
Can anyone suggest how to do smears and trails as I’ve never done them before in fcp.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the responses.
Looks like prosonqix has a stand alone app called Time Factory that specializes in this. You can punch in the number of frames (NOT the percentage change) and it will change the time to that exact number of frames. Presumably, since the frame count will match from the video to the time factory output, sync will be maintained.
Of course its $399. Oh well.
Thanks again for the info

April 6, 2007 at 5:49 pm in reply to: How to get the CSI, or glowing glamour fashion lookThe lumn keying is close, but the whites blow out.
The still guys do it with just the red channel – so it works with the skin tones, but not white objects.
Do you know if there is any way to manipulate just the red channel in FCP?
