  • Poll – how to make a “trippy” or “druggie” POV experience with filters?

Posted by Keith Mann on June 26, 2007 at 12:48 am

I need to turn party walk-through shots into the POV perspective of different recreational drugs.

So anyone got some “trippy” suggestions for either fcp filters or FX’s?

    Thanks in advance…

(PS – please do not feel it is necessary to do “research” on this.)

There are several kaleidoscope plugins – they always seems to work well for a drugged-out POV.

See the “borders” plugin, looks druggie to me

Check out the bad TV filter. Separating the color channels gives that feel. Otherwise blurs, glows, etc.

Drop a couple hits of Orange Sunshine or maybe a tab of Purple Microdot and then walk through a party so you’ll know if anybory is giving you the correct advice.

Hint: You’ll need trails and smearing. And pitch up the audio a touch. Enough for it to bother your central nervous system.

I see those when I go without water for 2 hours while wearing a TUX and posing for the 500th wedding photo in Phoenix…in July.

Composite filtered video over itself without filters, ie:

    Layer one, video unfiltered
    Layer two, same video filtered.

Composite mode on layer two. Experiment with different composite modes to get an effect you like. Also, adjust the opacity on layer two to control the strength of the effect.

Another thought, apply smoothcam and then play with the Mix parameter.

    That’s hilarious Steve!

Yes, trails and smears should help a lot. Also, if you have AE, CC Time Blend does some really weird things. Also Turbulent Displace.

    Great suggestions.

Can anyone suggest how to do smears and trails as I’ve never done them before in fcp.

    Thanks in advance,
