It is a good choice to convert your Canon MXF to ProRes mov for editing in FCP7 and MXF converters like TransMXF for Mac will help you with that.

To edit MXF in Premiere Pro, you will need to convert the MXF files to a format acceptable for Premiere. You can convert the MXF file to mpeg-2/wmv/mov for editing in Premiere Pro with TransMXF, MXF converter, etc. In this way, you will have no problems for importing.

Even though Avid could import MXF files with plug-ins, you may still fail with the process. In this case, you will need to convert the MXF files to a format accaptable for Avid Media Composer. I have used TransMXF for Mac to convert MXF/P2 MXF to Avid DNxHD mov for editing in Avid Media Composer. I think it worth to try because the conversion speed is fast and the converted videos are of high quality and video/audio synchronization.

FCPX says they have native support for MXF files, but sometime you may still fail to import some MXF or P2 MXF files into it. In this case, you can convert MXF/P2 MXF to prores and then import into FCP X. And for MXF converter, TransMXF is good.

I prefer Aunsoft DVD ripper than Handbrake because the interface of handbrake is too complecated for me……

iMovie doesn’t have native support for Panasonic P2 MXF Files, while looking for the best way to edit P2 MXF videos in iMovieon Mac, I find TransMXF for Mac help making the editing easy and smooth. The best format for importing into FCE is Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC), so you need to wrap P2 MXF footage to AIC for iMovie.

For the MXF video and audio clips, you can use a MXF convert like TransMXF, it works well for converting the format and do some simple editing. For the others, sorry I have no idea for how to deal with them.

Well, for this case, you may try TransMXF, it has both windows and Mac version. It can transfer MXF into 1080p MPEG-2 for Premiere, I think it should meet your acquirement.

Well, sometimes you may fail to import MXF files into FCP, FCP says that you can directly import DVCPRO HD 1080i/60 into it, so you can transfer MXF into DVCPRO HD 1080i/60. I see Panasonic’s P2CMS and Raylight for Mac ($200)have been recommended, however, P2CMS allow you to view your P2 contents, however, you are not able to export in another format, so you still can not use in FCP. Raylight for Mac ($200) is a little expensive. You may try TransMXF for Mac, I use it to deal with MXF problems. You can view MXF files and transfer it for FCP with the program. It has free trial version, you can see whether it’s helpful for you.
