MXF files not reading in Premiere Pro CS6.
Posted by Christopher Tegg on March 15, 2013 at 9:02 pmKia Ora. I have some wonderful underwater footage shot in Tonga of whales.
Only problem is I can’t seem to read them in Premiere.
FCP 7 is reading them in log and transfer just fine. Click on contents and there they are.
In Premiere the same folders are there but not opening as thumbs in media browser.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Christopher.

March 16, 2013 at 3:37 amWhat were they shot on? Are you using the full version of Adobe Premiere Pro or the Trial?
Are you using video from FCP? Or from the original card/structure/format?Best,

March 16, 2013 at 6:22 amI know for importing XDCAM MXF files I needed to install the Sony software in order for it to work in Premiere Pro. What codec/media is the footage?

March 21, 2013 at 11:00 pmCS6 needs nothing additional to read XDcamHD MXF files…you may want the software to transfer the camera media, but that’s a different function.
What sort of MXF files are these? (It’s not mentioned whether the footage is from a Sony or Panasonic camera…or a Canon, etc)

May 27, 2013 at 8:40 amWe need more info about your MXF footage. I had some MXF video clips from my Canon XF100. The MXF files are not well supported by Premiere Pro CS6, as you may encounter many audio and video problems. And I know that Premiere Pro CS6 can render to the part of MXF format, but it can’t handle raw MXF files. So, how to import Canon MXF footage in Premiere Pro CS6 for editing smoothly? I found a relevant threat talks about the MXF with Premiere Pro, it helps me out with the provided easy solution.

October 15, 2013 at 2:58 amTo edit MXF in Premiere Pro, you will need to convert the MXF files to a format acceptable for Premiere. You can convert the MXF file to mpeg-2/wmv/mov for editing in Premiere Pro with TransMXF, MXF converter, etc. In this way, you will have no problems for importing.
