beenice, does the aspect ratio for your photoshop file match the aspect ratio of your sequence?

  • Good to know… if I can’t find a good solution to this, then I am going to look into other options like this.

    Thanks!

You can try: Copy your clip and put it on track 2 directly above the original clip… now add a matte(from your fcp effects)-for instance Mask Shape to that clip-invert the matte filter and adjust the area you want to be sharp vs. blurred. Now add a blur to the clip… change the amount of blur to whatever you would like the blur to be… then add a mask feather to soften the edges of the area that’s blurred and the area that’s not blurred.
Hope this might work for what you need!

First, When you’re exporting out of FCP, MPEG2 should be an option. I’m not sure why you’re not seeing it.

Regardless, you can export out a regular QT file and bring into DVD StudioPro and it will compress it into an MPEG2 file (while you’re working int he program or on the build depending on your preferences). Make sure your StudioPro Preferences are set to a compression rate that you like. And this is why it probably seems like it took a little longer to build-because it had to compress the QT file you exported before it could build.

Now you can build and format… but I seem to have less issues with a dvd if I build the files and then take those files and burn in Toast…
You may want to try that…

As for jumping through hoops…I think what you feel now is too many options to complete a project, will soon turn into happiness to have so many options once you get the hang of things.
    Good luck!

Make sure you export from your Timline.
If you export from the Viewer window, it won’t allow you to export through Compressor.
