Edge blur filter?
Posted by Oliver Busch on August 18, 2005 at 4:06 pmHi there,
is there an edge blur filter available for FCP?
Something like a vignette, but with increasing blur instead of luma falloff…Thanks in advance, Oliver

August 18, 2005 at 8:32 pmYou can try: Copy your clip and put it on track 2 directly above the original clip… now add a matte(from your fcp effects)-for instance Mask Shape to that clip-invert the matte filter and adjust the area you want to be sharp vs. blurred. Now add a blur to the clip… change the amount of blur to whatever you would like the blur to be… then add a mask feather to soften the edges of the area that’s blurred and the area that’s not blurred.
Hope this might work for what you need!

October 28, 2011 at 12:30 pmAndy’s region blur is great for a quickie outer edge blur.
You can download it for free from andys plug -ins (a great free selection by the way).
Just pic your blur shape, click invert to apply to the outsides and then feather the edges.
