I have the same Transcend cards and have had no problems so far.
I’ve read a lot of good reviews about Transcend too.

Are you getting errors while recording on them in the camera or just uploading with a card reader?

Have you tried leaving the cards in the camera and connecting the computer to the camera via USB and uploading that way?

  • I’ve had good and bad experiences with Dynamic Link.

The bad: I made a series of lower thirds, each on a different comp within 1 AE project. In Premiere the lower thirds kept randomly changing between different titles using the DL. I think this had something to due with duplicating elements within the AE project to make the additional titles.

The Good: I’ve also done titles where everything worked perfectly and every time the client changed there mind it was easy to make changes with no need to re-render.

It also seems that AE projects render slower when dynamic linked into premiere. So for AE comps with a gazillion layers I prefer to render in AE but for more basic AE comps the DL has worked great.

I think the safest way to use DL is to edit the piece in Premiere, then use the “replace with AE comp” command for each clip you want to key and save it as it’s own AE project.

Probably the easiest way would be to import the AE comp into Encore using the Dynamic Link feature (skipping the intermediate render step altogether).

It also sounds like it could have been rendered with the project set at half resolution instead of full. I’ve done that before.

I’ve also noticed focus is slow in 24p when zoomed it tight with my DVX100a.

But, I also agree that 1/500th is too fast for most situations.

This just happened to me today for the first time. I don’t know if this is just a coincidence, but my C drive (the one with Vista 64) just went into the red (the warning that tells you that you’re almost out of space)

Could there be a connection the PProHeadless error and system drive space?

For me, my Encore project (which was dynamic linked from Premiere) was making my disc with no audio (was set to ac3)

I also tried to export ac3s directly from premiere and the files ended up having no sound.

That’s reassuring. I currently have a DVX100 which I love and I’m looking for the HD version of it.

I guess if you read enough of these forums you’re going to hear alot of horror stories!

Is editing native AVCHD really that slow? Even if you have a fast machine?

It’s geared towards Event Video, so I don’t know if it would cover the needs of bigger budget production work.

The Liability insurance is seperate and I think it’s around $500.

“That’s a good idea, but I wonder if any insurance company sells that type of insurance. If they do I could buy it, since most likely it would be cheap like renter’s insurance”

It’s called Errors and Omissions Insurance.
If you’re a WEVA member you can get it for about $100/year.

It’s a camera I’m considering and I haven’t seen a “F?? @ 2000 lux” listed anywhere. Panasonic not listing the light sensitivity made me suspicious it might be poor in low light conditions.

If I could ask another question.
How fast are the upload times for the highest quality setting?

August 28, 2008 at 4:56 pm in reply to: keying with a real background (ie not blue, green)

There is a Difference Matte filter in the Keying section that is used for this. It’s similar to using the layer mode method but gives you some more options such as Matching Tolerance, Matching Softness and Blur before difference
