As a work-around… you could set the Frame Convertor on the SRW to 1080-50i and then work in 1080 instead of 720p.

The Multibridge Mac 5.2.3 software is for the Multibridge Extreme and Studio only…. not for the old non-PCI-express multibridges.

The multibridge only gives you 4 channels analouge audio. We use a multibridge to feed 8 channel aes/ebu into our tascam dsm7.1 which handles our monitoring control. I think it’s the only solution available for what you’d like to do… all together this will run you about 3400 bucks. Not including cables, speakers and amps. Plus you stil need to now how to arrange and set-up a surround system.

You can use the 1080 50i preset. 1080/50i and 1080/25psf are identical signals.

Not safe. There are major issues with that combo. It will not be supported. To run QT7 you need to go to tiger and upgradde FCP to 5.

Actually you can it’s in the DIF menu settings, i think it’s the 800’s. You need to set the IEEE1394 standard to DV, and you might need to slow the transfer rate to S100.

  • The blackmagic has analogue inputs, the K2 only SDI/HD-SDI, and EXTREME and STUDIO can support 2k output via DVI.

August 29, 2005 at 1:44 pm in reply to: How to capture audio for 5.1 surround sound

Assuming they made a surround mix, It would probably be on the DigiBeta in Dolby-E format on channels 3/4, you need to rent a Dolby-E decoder (DP572, i think… might be 571) and connect it to the AES out of channel 3+4. That will give you 6 discreet channels, or 3 AES pairs. You’ll need to then capture all of those tracks. I don’t know if meridian hardware supports that many channels, I believe Adrenaline does. You’ll then need to use a software encoder to process that into an AC3 stream, and put that into your DVD. If you’ve never done this before you’ve got a steap learning curve ahead of you, and may want to subcontract this job out.
