I too can confirm that this issue reappears on version 5.4.1, it was fine for about a week and then today just failed on us. Had to downgrade back to 5.2.3.

This happens when you try to output illegal YUV level. Try using the Balckmagic 10bit device instead of the RGB device,

A lot of films are going this route, provided you have a clean telecine this can be accomplished. The very best quality is attained by going to a HDCAM-SR tape in RGB Log, and doing your color correction and effects/compositing in Log space.

    Hope that helps.

THe VideoHub only works with SDI equipment. The SDI signal carriers embedded audio.

Won’t work. Windows XP 64 only rums on 64-bit systems.

  • The only format conversion is 1080i60 to NTSC or 1080i50 to pal. And the quality is not very good, plus only works in letterbox.

  • The Video Hub works as advertised… it’s a great solution for small facilites (2-3 edit rooms, 5-6 decks, etc). But it’s definately overkill if all you’re doing is switching between 2 decks and 1 edit system. Seems to me what you really need is a HD-SDI patch bay.

    Steve,
We use the S&W Ukon, to do this sort of conversions with much success, we’ve used it recently on a couple of high profile projects. Unfortunately the Alchemist won’t support this in HD (all it’s inputs are SD, it can upconvert but not cross convert HD). We also have a Teranex box in house, the Ukon is defeniatly better. If you’d like a quote drop me an e-mail at js(at)grsv.com.

No, it’s not true. No need for a work around use the Blackmagic 720p 23.98 easy setup.

You can use a PC formatted Hard Drive on a Mac. Just format the HD on your PC… give it to your telecine op… and have him nount it on his mac. It should be formated in FAT32 for it to have read and write support on the mac… not NTFS. You can also capture directly into quicktime on a PC.
