February 7, 2006 at 2:56 pmTHe VideoHub only works with SDI equipment. The SDI signal carriers embedded audio.

February 7, 2006 at 3:35 pmThe Videohub is designed for SDI or HDSDI signals that handle embedded audio, as well as RS422 VTR control. This is not the right product if you want to use analog VTR’s like Beta VTR’s, analog monitors, and VHS machines, unless you feel like spending a fortune on A/D D/A converters.
If you have multiple digital edit systems (AVID, FCP, etc) and a few digital VTR’s, this is the perfect solution. But it is not the solution if you have Beta 1800’s, and lots of other analog devices. Want a cheap solution for your analog stuff – PATCH BAYS !

February 7, 2006 at 8:43 pmI was thinking of using it with SDI, and Multibridge Extreme, but even then, if you have other analog sources in the facility, some other routing is necessary. Patch bays are an option I would rather avoid. Wished BM made another piggyback audio device that could be controlled by the Video hub.
Tks for the answers anyways.

February 8, 2006 at 4:47 amthis is a great suggestion, and I know that there are plenty of smaller hungry router companies like Network, Sigma, etc. that would love to have an “association” with Blackmagic for the Videohub product.
