Well, you can always buy the components and pay someone else to assemble them. Depending on prices, it might end up cheaper.

In Windows, if you add a shortcut to something to the ‘startup’ folder in the start menu, those items will play automatically when the user logs in. So you’ll need to build a dvd or an interactive flash video, create a shortcut in that folder and make sure the software which will play it will start in full screen

Are you sure the processors in the original Ipad and lower end Android tablets can deal with such a rather high bitrate? With those dimensions, you could use half the bitrate and still get a good enough result. And it will also reduce the data consumption for customers with a cap. BTW, why those dimensions? It’s not quite 4:3, which is the Ipad’s aspect ratio and would display stretched (thus also straining lower end processors) or with black bars in Android tablets.

Well, you can use a four point garbage matte to mask only the relevant part, but why are you using black bars to begin with? Just use a widescreen sequence

Well, you can right click on them in the timeline and choose “reveal in finder”, but you’ve probably done that already. You can also use the Media Manager to move or copy your source files to a new location.

If you have a PC around, or Windows running in your mac, you can use an old freeware called DVD Decrypter to extract just the extras

How about making the outside green in PS and using a chroma key in AE to make the outside transparent?

We have an internal Pioneer BDR 206D with a Mac Pro tower at work and it’s problematic. Sometimes Snow Leopard won’t recognize it until it’s rebooted. So don’t buy that one.

Mia, relax. As far as I understand, we aren’t talking about the final delivery for your client but rather a preview, right? If that’s the case, you don’t need top notch quality but rather something that looks nice. So make a 1GB file – h264 is your best friend here – and upload it to whatever website fits you best. It can be Vimeo, or it can be any cloud service.
And, once the job is done, you’ll give it to your client in whatever media you have arranged. -
If you work in a Mac, you can use Jubler to do it
