Just go to Micro Ceneter(or wherever) and speck out an Intel SandyBridge E 3930k system with 32GB ram for about $1800 or so. That’s 12 processors for $1800. And you can safely, and easily, overclock it for a few 300-800 mhz more. I will probably go this way after this latest Open CL kludge.

Sorry Eric, Im not interested in building my own. Im an editor, not a computer builder 😀

The machine you spec out doesn’t have enough power for Red and Epic projects I may find myself doing in the future. And not enough ram for AE projects as well .I also dont overclock systems that are running almost 24/7 in my bay.

Its great if that works for you, but I will stick with the Genesis 2 from Puget or a system reasonably similar.

Tom Daigon you are dealing lamess. I’m callin you out. Do you work for Puget? Kickbacks? What? 😀

I just specced my exact machine at your hookup(Puget). They were over $5400 for a $2300 machine from Anywhere Computer Store USA. They are the EXACT parts you can get at Anywhere Computer Store USA. I am not affiliated with Anywhere Computer Store USA in any way shape or for form. Just please buy from Anywhere Computer Store USA if you can…here, use this link Anywhere Computer Store USA.com and remember, Im not with “them”.

12 cores at 4.2Ghz and 64 GB ram is not enough for you? Easily upgrade to a 16 core when they come available for $600 in a year or so. The 3930k is smokin’ out your overpriced Xeon junk.

That Puget system looks pretty cool. What’s that home plate-shaped thing sticking out of the side?

Erik – It’s a little hard to tell if you are being tongue in cheek, sarcastic or whatever.

Tom is one of the most helpful voices on this forum and the official Adobe forum. Hundreds have benefited from his insight – especially myself (despite the fact that his avatar looks like David Hasselhoff).

I also have no desire to build a system from scratch – I’m too busy working! I need something ready to rock and roll so the original post is helpful.

My point is the dude is legit so chill out a little!
