  • Thanks, for chiming in, Todd.

So that means I can’t have the bin open in its own pane and click within it, but I have to click back to the project pane anyway, select the desired bin, and then I can create the sequence inside the bin? I suppose it’s one fewer steps than I’ve been doing.????

January 3, 2017 at 6:23 pm in reply to: Importing broken file structure Canon C300

    Hey, Lindsey,

I have also encountered difficulty with broken C300 file structures and spanned clips. It’s possible to bring them in as their separate components, but that’s a big drag.

The workaround I have used successfully is to go to an older project with an intact CONTENTS and CLIPS001 folder. I copy those folders onto a new drive, delete their contents, and use them as a template file structure for the new project. It doesn’t work if I just create a new folder called CONTENTS, but if I borrow it from something previously created by Canon it seems to work out just fine.

    Hope this is helpful.

November 2, 2016 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Easy way to calculate timeline percentage?

    Thanks Dave!

I was definitely overthinking this. Thanks for simplifying it for me. Now that I see the answer I can’t believe I didn’t figure it out before.

I know what I’m looking for–we’re working native with WAY too many formats and I needed to narrow the haystack to find the needle.

Thanks again for the speedy reply.

June 16, 2016 at 10:41 pm in reply to: Delete and/or copy paste bugs

I’m 98% sure I have. It turns out that there were clips selected during the copy, which overrides the in and out points. I haven’t heard that the problem has happened again, so I’m pretty sure that’s the issue. (When I wrote the original post, for the sake of expediency I said I was having the problem, but it was really a colleague of mine. I couldn’t reproduce it, so I had them take a screen grab so I could share it).

April 27, 2016 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Duplicate clips in footage bin

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to automatically replace all the usages of the duplicate clips with the original clips? I’m coming late to the party, I know, but I’ve got a project that has a significant number of these clips — we’ve figured out how to prevent them happening in the future, but I’d like to slim down the project file size if I can…

    Many thanks in advance!

August 25, 2015 at 7:11 pm in reply to: what brand and type external hard drive do you use

I’m a fan of the Mercury Elite Pro series at OWC. Depending on the size I need, I’ll either go for the Elite Pros or the QX2.

Thanks for chiming in, Walter. Unfortunately, your suggestion didn’t work, either.

I spent some time on the phone yesterday with Steve from AJA tech support (who I found to be incredibly helpful and knowledgable–total rock star!), and we were able to narrow it down to a problem with Final Cut, but we weren’t able to solve it. My next step will be to restore the entire system from a Time Machine backup from last week & everything was working smoothly and hope that the gremlin gets exorcised.
