Subtitle Dailies by Timecode
So I’m working on a documentary. There’s a lot of spanish and so someone has been hired to translate and transcribe. Problem is, I can’t work with the footage unless I have subtitles burned on the dailies.
Is there a simple process, using the timecode embedded in a video file, to line it up with a transcription and burn the subtitles to the image?
Does anyone have a workflow for this? Let’s assume the transcription document will already be properly formatted.
Basically, here’s what I’m hoping for.
We should on a 5Dmk3. There is embedded Time of Day timecode in the files. I’d like to have the transcription be something like:
——————————–
05:30:11:12 – 05:30:14:20
There’s no place like home there’s no place like home, is what she said, I think.05:30:15:19 – 05:30:17:02
Pretty sure she said foam, there’s no place like foam.——————————–
Something to that effect. Then use the timecoded transcription burned on to my dailies. I’ve found some plugins, but everything works on First Frame of Picture instead of embedded TC. Which is fine, except we trim the fat from our files so the transcription company is scrubbing through hours and hours of footage to get to what needs to transcribing. It saves them a ton of time. But, they don’t get the full files.
Thoughts?
