Importing broken file structure Canon C300
Hello and thank you in advance for anyone who can shed some light here.
I just got footage for a new project and am having trouble importing the files into Premiere Pro CC2014.
All the footage was shot on Canon C300 Mark ii. In the morning, the camera settings were set to RGB 4:4:4 12 bit in the afternoon they switched to YCC 4:2:2 10 bit. When I attempt to bring in the footage from the morning, it crashes Premiere. I can bring in the .mxf files from the afternoon no problem. I am bringing footage in via the Media Browser. I tried file>import alos but I believe the media browser is a better way. They both crash the program.Upon looking more closely at the files, I noticed that the CONTENTS folder was missing. I confirmed with the person who downloaded the cards that the folder originally labelled CONTENTS was renamed after it was downloaded. I assumed this was the problem, though it’s interesting that I can still get the footage from the afternoon into Premiere. I recreated the CONTENTS folder and moved the CLIPS001 folder into it, and still it would crash Premiere to bring in the footage. (Premiere is working fine in all other respects, importing footage into other projects and playing just fine.)
Poking around on the internet regarding broken file structure, the recommendation looks to be to pull in the .mxf files into a program and convert to .mov Encoder crashes when I pull in the .mxf, mpeg streamclip says the format is not supported. I’m trying something called brorsoft mxf converter now. It’s taking forever though and there are A LOT of these clips I’ll need to convert if that is my work around.
Any ideas? It seems like the camera setting might be the real culprit here? I did download the latest plugin from Canon for Premiere and it didn’t help. I have heard CC2015 is unstable and have been avoiding upgrading, but perhaps I need to? Thank you for any ideas!

Folder structure should not be a problem with Premiere and it looks like something went wrong with the files themselves… Maybe some kind of corruption….
Did you try if VLC can open / playback those file?
You can also try to open and convert them using Resolve to see if it works… -

I have also encountered difficulty with broken C300 file structures and spanned clips. It’s possible to bring them in as their separate components, but that’s a big drag.
The workaround I have used successfully is to go to an older project with an intact CONTENTS and CLIPS001 folder. I copy those folders onto a new drive, delete their contents, and use them as a template file structure for the new project. It doesn’t work if I just create a new folder called CONTENTS, but if I borrow it from something previously created by Canon it seems to work out just fine.

Joy…I’m seeing this several years later. I’m curious, if the folder structure is gone and you’re copying an older C300 project with Contents and Clips folder to another drive…what are you doing if you don’t have the XML files…and just the MXF? Also, there’s the Index.MIF. Thank you.
