Thanks. I looked at the project at half resolution and it appears that the vertical lines are coming from the source clip which, as I said, was exported out of Avid Xpress DV as a quicktime (DV/NTSC, interlaced, 16:9). I’ll head to the Avid forum for further help.

    Thanks a lot.

Hope it’s not too late to respond to this, but I was having trouble hearing audio synched to the picture by using the RAM preview.

Are there any special setting I should be doing to preview audio synched with an image?

    Thanks.

You can manually make the picture taller or wider in AE. Just click on the clip and four small yellow boxes show up in the middle of each side. From there, stretch the image as needed.

I just upgraded to Ulead DVD Workshop from Sonic MyDVD, which solved the problem right away.

I’m talking about rendering within the sequence, which FCP does take up more time than Avid.

I’m sure your Mac work great, mac’s are perfectly good computers. My recommendation to save money was for those who can’t afford a dual Mac G5 yet still want to edit. When I bought an editing system I couldn’t afford a mac, so I bought a PC and it works exactly like it’s supposed to. This is after everyone (all Mac owners mind you) preached that it would implode.

There’s no render time in Avid, which, for me, is a HUGE plus. Much time is saved.

Also, if you’re buying a home editing system, bear in mind that part of what your paying for in a Mac is the shiny, sleek metal box encasing the computer system. The computer’s pretty, but the price isn’t.

If you’re really looking to save a buck, buy a PC that is compatible with Avid Express DV. Many, many people will try and dissuade you from this, instilling all manner of fear about PC’s into you, but trust me, it works fine. You will save money.

Thanks for the basics Mr. Zanone. I’ll check that website in the future.

I have Avid Express DV with 2GB of RAM, no programs are running, and yes, I cannot do anything past clicking “OK” with this message.
