What version software, what OS, what soundcard, how much RAM do you have?

Do you have other programs open?

What kind of media drives? SCSI, internal IDE HD or firewire?

More info is needed before troubleshooting can begin. What exactly are you trying to do? Does this happen EVERYTIME you play media, or just sometimes. What resolution did you digitize your footage at? Avid generates many cryptic messages, but most problems are caused by fairly simple things.
