Well…maybe a clarification. Our device can be used as an output for any ASIO compliant app. But we do not have ASIO input at this time. So it will be unable to capture from anything other than our applications, DS integrated applications or plugin type apps (Premiere).

But for output, this should totally be doable. It is possible that the audio driver didn’t get installed. If you can check the device manager you should see Decklink Audio (under sound video and game controllers). Make sure that doesn’t have any sort of exclamation/question mark.

Once it is all installed up, then the Decklink Audio should show up in the windows control panel.

Yup…the ability to set the quality level has been requested.

This is something we would like to implement, but we just don’t have any sort of timeline for it currently.

Yup…I completely understand. Please do not take my answer to mean that we have given up on it. To the contrary. This is an ACTIVE item on our list of things to get working.

Consider that confirmed. The Intensity Pro, like the Intensity will not work properly on any Power PC system.

Please understand that this is an incompatibility/limitation that we at Blackmagic Design do NOT like. And we are working to change it. Unfortunately it is one of those cases where the ball is in someone else’s court right now.

And while I would love to tell you I think there is a solution around the corner it is worth noting this has been the situation since the product launched.

Wish I had better news on that.

    Baz,

hehe…no mentioning the ‘C’ word. But that is a great workflow. That way you get to keep all the benefits of the smaller file as well as the benefits of the ucompressed workspace for compositing. Very cool.

    David,

Yup…that’s it. It is that easy. To go back to an HDV camera/deck you will have to recompress the entire timeline as HDV anyways. So prepare yourself for a wait on that.

It would probably be better to go straight to Blu-ray at that point.

    Hey guys,

Baz is right (hey Baz, you may remember me from my last company).

In premiere use the native HDV decoding ability in available in premiere for HDV editing. So choose the “decoded” resolution as your project size (most commonly 1920×1080) in the codec of your choice. As Baz suggested, MJPEG works great (good and small), though uncompressed works as well.

If you would like to make a specific project setting for this type of work you can easily make a new project setting (using the Blackmagic HDTV 1920×1080 as a template) and simply change the capture device (and device control) to HDV.

Then you can choose that as a project setting.

    Excellent!

I am glad to hear that you got this is up and running. And your suggestions are INDEED noted. I believe we are looking into all of these issues. Of course…addressing them is always a matter of priority. But I can assure you they are on our active list.

I haven’t been as active as i would like on these forums, but it is something I am looking forward to.

The short answer is that it SHOULDN’T matter where you installed CS3. However, if there is a problem with the installer or a registry key has been broken (pretty common on upgrade installations) then likely the files did not get put into the correct place.

The first step would be to find out if the installer installed the files to the default install path. (which would denote a problem in our installer and is easily fixed)

Below is a break down of files and where they are installed if they are in the default installation path.

    File: Blackmagic Editing Mode.xml
    To: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS3\Plug-ins\en_US\Editing Modes

    File:
    BMDCompiler.prm
    BMDDeviceControl.prm
    BMDDipToColour.prm
    BMDImporter.prm
    BMDPlayer.prm
    BMDRecorder.prm

    To:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS3\Plug-ins\en_US

    File:
    all preset files

    To:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS3\Settings\en_US

Please check to see if these files/locations exsist on your system. If they do, then we can easily copy those files to the corresponding folder for YOUR CS3 installation.

If not, let me know…and I can provide these for you.

Normally we put a copy of these files in the Decklink installation folder (for just such occasions) but I only see versions 1.5 and 2.0 in there and I don’t know if 2.0 is the same for CS3.

I hope that helps. Let us know. Give us a call on Monday if you are still having an issue with this, it shouldn’t take us long to get you up and right.

July 23, 2007 at 6:51 pm in reply to: can intensity co-exist with other video cards?

    Hello,

Some clarification. Our boards work just fine with more than one in the system. However the applications lack the ability to identify the board independantly. So basically the first card the app sees, it uses. This is something I would like to see improved.

But as far as using our board with a different manufacturers board, it shouldn’t cause any conflict as long as the computer doesn’t have any conflicts.

    Joshua
