What about when the “frames” go behind other frames? Can Mocha handle that?
The idea that we’ve got would be basically a pile of photos that get load on top of each other in a messy pile and occasionally some of those photos would turn into videos, then more photos/videos would be roughly laid on top (but would still want to show some parts of the footage).
How would that be pulled off?

I’ve tried Matte Choker and Simple Choker (along with the edge refiners in a few different Keying tools.
The Roto Brush isn’t an option because the footage eventually gets extremely complex (it’s a tree with leaves).

NICE! The “Preserve Edges” option seems to have done the trick.

Hey Michael, like I mentioned in my original post: “I don’t want to just do a mask over an existing image that just reveals the stroke, but instead want something that looks as if you’re actually painting on, where the front of the stroke is heavier and the tail trails off.”

The problem I’m having with the Eran Stern tutorial (and some other methods) is that the end result looks so…generated. It’s grid-heavy and doesn’t feel organic, and if I try to go too organic, then all the shapes start overlapping (which is the problem I’m ultimately having with every method I’ve tried).

For clarification, there’s no 3D space here…everything just moves along X and Y.

Just tried that…using a solid as a track matte has the same effect of killing the blending mode of the glow.

No 3D. Everything is 2D.
The mask is used to reveal the text as the door opens (see those image links).
Sorry I didn’t give more info…just not sure what exactly people need to know.
