I agree that right now the most reasonable option is probably to recapture with appropriate handles to cover the drift and then to eye the cuts and go from there. In my experience, it is a rare case when I receive and EDL in which someone hasn’t mangled the TC track by rendering to different frame rates or transcoding and losing the source TC track (and other needed information) in their “custom exported” reference files — I’ve seen the Drop/Non-drop issue creeping in as well. For now it’s just one of those deals; until people understand the importance of EDL information I suppose it probably will be.
Good luck

PJ,
Not sure if this is exactly the answer you’re looking for, but if you adjust the levels for one of your clips to your liking, highlight and copy the audio tracks, and select the rest of the clips you need to match levels, you can right-click and select “paste attributes.” A task box will appear and you can check the “levels” box and hit okay. Your adjusted audio levels will be matched by the highlighted clips.
Good listening!

Richie,
as administrator for the computer, you have to set permissions for other users. You’ll either need to place things in the public/shared folder (with permissions set to either “read” or “read and write” — or “no access” if needs be) or, in the instance of the “access denied” error you’re receiving on the FCP save, allow the new user account to have a folder on the hard drive that they can write information back to. (Usually a Mac Hard Drive/User/Documents folder structure.) But it sounds like you’ve got permission issues that you’ll need to manually control and set as the administrator.
Best,
Josh

First, did you save your custom keyboard setting? Second, if you have already saved the custom layout, you have to go back up to the tools menu, keyboard layouts, and then load your custom layout.

Make sure that your imported media and sequence settings are PAL DV anamorphic. There’s an “anamorphic” column in your browser window. Scroll over to it and select it–a check-mark will appear.

Arthur,
You could try to reconnect media with the “match name only” turned off, but if this is just a single clip, it might be faster to simply re-import the media tomsitsdown.t2 and perform a replace edit — might even be able to subclip to you in & out and then fit to fill.

Gabriela,
You attach the QT just like you would a regular attachment. However, I believe that most email providers only allow for a 6 mb attachment size, so 2.5 minutes is surely going to be too large. You might consider an FTP transfer if you have access to one.

Unfortunately, I’ve never had much luck working with imported graphics in DV sequences. I can never get them to look right. You might, however, check that the PSD file is reading the proper field order — Upper I think for DV, but I’d have to look it up — which is opposite from other NTSC codecs and interlaced HD. Just look at your DV video bed settings, and make sure that the PSD settings have the same field order. You can also try a “field shift” filter that is packaged with FCP to tweak it.
If you’ve seen this problem before for a particular client, you might speak with them about providing a different loop package (not creative content, of course, but video specs). Depending on what type of monitors they use in their lobby, you might find better results with a progressive scan at 23.98 or just a progressive scan in general. Do you happen to know which monitors they use? I think Kevin is certainly on to something as well. FCP video windows aren’t the best for monitoring quality, so if you’ve got an external broadcast monitor that you can use to check the quality, that’s definitely the way to approach it. I know that my desktop monitor doesn’t look work well for precise quality control, and doesn’t like DV at all.
Hope this helps out a bit. Good luck!

Leon,
Just make a duplicate of your PSD file. Send one to Motion and keep the other for FCP alterations in real time. Only difference will be .PSD and .PSD copy (or whatever you name it). If you lay the original PSD file on one video bed, and the motion altered PSD on another, you can easily mute one of the tracks so that they don’t interfere with one another — or use them both and drop the opacities down on the one you don’t want to show at the time.
Hope this is what your were getting at, but I suggest working with a motion copy and your original PSD unaltered. Makes it easy to track the changes as well.

Nathan,
In the FCP “View” drop down, there are range check options – luma is ctrl + z as a shortcut, but you’ve got to go to the drop-down (Under range check option in view menu) to turn them both on.
