Was your footage digitized at one of the ‘m’ (multicam) resolutions? Thats the only way to get multiple playback.

Try deleting your MCstate file (usually in aplications/Avid/Avid XPress Pro / settings). If that doesn’t do it, try creating a new user setting.

Try doing a mixdown of your sequence.

Are you using AE on the same machine as the Avid? If you are, try using a QT reference. If you use a different machine, make sure you use a same as source QT out of the Avid. It’ll be a large file, depending on the length of the clip, but you’ll be happy with the results.

Also, are you looking at interlaced footage on a progressive monitor?

The older Macs were notorious for that problem. There was definitely a limit on the amount of objects you could have in a bin.

Can’t you just create a new bin and drag half the clips in the new bins?

As an aside, I’ve upgraded my MC Medridian to OSX and ver12 – it works great. Once you get to a point where you can do it, I highly recommend it, with these caveats:

-Your OS9 third party applications won’t work (Photoshop, AE, etc).
-I could never get the VLan to work. I had to use some old control cables you used to get with the Media Log software plugged straight into the Keyspan adapter.

What do you get for the pain of the upgrade? For me, the color correction was worth the price of admission!

You’ll have to convert the file to (preferably) to QuickTime. I think Avid will take .avi, but QT is pretty universal. If you don’t have a program called Sorenson Squeeze,for $30.00 you can buy Quicktime Pro from Apple’s website. You should be able to convert it with that.

I have no idea about Avid Free DV. Have you looked in the effects pallet? I don’t know how extensive it is, but you might find it there…

Try right clicking on My Computer, select properties, then device manager. Find the firewire card in the list, right click and select ‘update driver’.
