AFAIK, the locked setting will only affect what’s dig’d AFTER you changed the setting. If you had audio problems with footage prior to changing the setting, you’ll still have those problems.

What version of AXP do you have? If you are running pre-Mojo software, then you can use a converter box to get your analog signal to the Avid. If you have it, you can plug direct into the Mojo. In terms of SD, Avid doesn’t care if it’s Digi8, VHS or DVCPro – it’s an analog signal.

What resolution did you bring your video in? Do you have the little blue button on? You’re coming out of firewire I assume? Are you using a converter (we had a box to convert firewire to analog video…)?

Do they go away when you black balance? On some Sony cameras, there is circuitry that will mask dead pixels when you BB. Try that and see what you get…

With the realization your are going to have a) black bars at the top of your footage, or b)lose part of your image, you can do one of two things;
a) In the effects pallet, go to image. You can pick on of those (i’m not sitting in front of a machine – I don’t remember which is which…)
b) Apply a resize to the footage so it fills the screen. This is probably not your best option though. After a certain percentage of enlargement, the footage goes soft.
You do know, I’m sure, you can edit 16:9 footage without changing the AR?Jon

Not really. You could take the frame into to photoshop and enhance it, maybe get rid of some of the grain, but essentially your dealing with video with a very poor resolution – if it’s DV, 720×480, 72dpi. Add to that whatever camera shake your neighbor may have had, and it doesn’t look promising.

In 4.6, the green dot / blue dot thing was for effects. It allowed (if I remember correctly) you to see some effects in realtime.
What are your system specs? Avid is very picky regarding what it’s run on. As I recall (I’m on version 5.2 now), there was no lag when color correcting. Mojo, if you don’t have, speeds things up considerably.
As far as rubberbanding, there is anothter way to adjust audio – add an edit (called ‘add edit’), adjust the audio track levels and dissolve between the two. How does FCP do it?

Please take a look at the Avid site. Tons of useful info on specific processors, etc. It’s a really good place to avoid headaches…

Oooo, 7.2? As in ABVB? I think you’ll be lucky to have 16:9 support. 7.2 was like, 1998… I don’t think my Meridian boardset ver 12 supports 24p… Could be wrong though…
