    That looks like Jacqui Brown.

Does sound like a codec issue. Your first screengrab, by the way of the timeline, seems rendered as well?

    Rule of Thumb:

If you haven’t got a hardware legaliser, always nest then add the broadcast safe filter. (which should be realtime if you’ve rendered the original timeline)

This of course being after you graded to correct levels – cause murphy’s law would have it, if you grading a shot on a particular frame, the next frame may be over.

It’s absolutely amazing how many jobs I get called in to fix because of this filter and the matching VITC and LTC on tape that the channel has rejected.

April 8, 2008 at 12:01 am in reply to: Is control S the same as RS-422?

I’m not too sure, but is control s a replacement for control l or lanc control?

If so, there must be a control s to usb adapter out there somewhere that would enable better logging. (that is if you haven’t got RS 422 control)

Logging through firewire is way too slow in FCP (I just usually capture the whole tape via capture now). I set up an AVID logging station (for M100) with a camera and lanc adapter a few years ago that worked great. Cheap logging station.

You could get a digi to chase to that LTC on the audio track, and dump to it at the same time.

Having said that, did you know that the Canon XL2 cams do time of day sync via remote control. Real handy for those cheaper productions.

I assume you’re talking about RAM purging – there used to be a useful prog in os9 called ‘Ram Purge’. I usually run cron scripts and find this ‘zeroes’ the ram to default.

This can be run by launching terminal and typing “sudo periodic daily weekly monthly” (excluding quotes)

[Steve Eisen] “The quick reference guide is set to be released April 11, 2008.”

do you mean the manual is pre-released prior to the app?

Been hanging for this for a long time, after seeing the juicy workflow demo on apple’s site – sounds like a good remedy for the ailing media manager and editor/producers that aren’t tidy.

I heard they were having an issue whether to release a admin only version which needs a reseller tech, or a scaled down consumer version, that anyone could set up.

    hehe nice idea.

You could sling a mic from some skype headphones over the speakers and get the audio through skype. Don’t know about the sync though….
