Is this a particular project or is it something that happens all the time?

I believe this is an After Effects issue that places the anchor point differently than it does in C4D. Check this tutorial where he discusses this and how to fix it – somewhere later in the tutorial, not exactly sure where: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNBexE_x8Tg&ab_channel=SchoolofMotion

Since RS is now native in S26, I believe you can just use the multiple machine features in C4D

  • I believe you need to convert to illustrator paths in Photoshop first, then open as an illustrator file and save to Illustrator version 9. Then you can import the paths to C4D and they will all be there.

So, select your objects in Photoshop, then right click and select “make work path”
Then go to the “paths” window and select that path and then go to export>paths to illustrator and save.
Then you need to go to that Illustrator file and open it. You need to re-save that very same file to a much later version of Illustrator for this to work! When the save dialogue window comes up, SAVE AS ILLUSTRATOR VERSION 9. This is critical because C4D will NOT read any Illustrator version past 9.

Then you can just drag into C4D and have your way with them.

  • If I disconnect from the internet on the C4D computer, I can release the license and continue working on my desktop. I will then be sure to close C4D on my laptop and exit out of my project on my desktop before I log back in on the original computer. I’m sure they don’t like this but I have to work and I have paid for this usage.

  • On this kind of level, the program should be able to identify what’s going on and that I’m not using two programs concurrently. This is just WRONG. It needs fixing. I’m very upset about this.

    Oh lord, THANK YOU!!!

  • Maybe precomposing the footage and then using the tracking tools on a single footage could work.

Water cooling is always a better option but as AE is highly RAM intensive, that is your best focus at this point, given your expense limitations. Your CPU will not be bearing nearly as much load as your RAM will be.
