  • Robert,

The current version of Media 100 is not supported for this latest driver, but in the coming weeks we should be releasing a version that will support this updated driver. If you need one sooner, shoot me an email at support@media100.com.

    Thanks.

    Bart,

Unfortunately, RED will not work directly with Corel VideoStudio, but yes, RED can be used as a stand-alone program (in RED’s case it’s called the ‘Engine’). You can use RED stand-alone to import/export media between itself and Corel. I would recommend downloading the trial version to see how the import/export workflow works for you – the trial does not have any import/export limitations, so you can run full tests with the trial version.

    Juan,

If this problem is happening with all FCP projects, do you think you can send me a copy of one of our FCP projects, as well as an XML from one of them? You can send it to support@borisfx.com. I shouldn’t need any media – hopefully these files will contain information that will let us see the problem.

Also, can you give some base information as to the nature of the FCP project. Primarily, are the media files native Quicktime files (.mov) or are they another format, such as a native file-based format? If there are any other specifics to your FCP projects, such as consistent codecs or file formats, let me know.

    Gerry,

Since Quicktime was unable to recognize the codec, then one thing you can do (if you are still having the problem) is open the movie, and click Command-I – this will give you the movie properties, including its compression type. There is a good chance that you can find, via Google, a component file that will allow you to play these files back. I have done this myself with an obscure component due to an odd format from a screen-capture program.

What you’d primarily want is a component file, likely ending with ‘.component’; these files are self-contained and can be added to your system by simply moving the file to your system. After you get the file, you would want to place it into this location –
Macintosh HD :: Library :: Quicktime

  • Jason,
Thank you for sending me the Graphics info for your system, per our conversations yesterday. I left you a voicemail shortly ago, primarily wondering if BCC ever gives you any kind of OpenGL info window/prompt when you use BCC 3D Objects. If not, try sending one of your Comps to the Render Queue and initiating the Render; this may prompt it. If you do get this prompt, send me a screenshot for this as well. I fear this may be related to the mobile nature of the card, although the problems would’ve generally come up sooner.

My other question was if the problem started before you started nesting your Compositions into a master Composition. Was there any time, after you started 3D Objects work in a second Composition, that this was not a problem?

    Thanks,
    Jon

Dan, this shouldn’t pose any problems because the BCC that would come with Avid would be BCC AVX, whereas the BCC for your Final Cut Pro would be BCC FxPlug (or BCC AE if your FCP is an older version). These two different BCC’s will not only create different plugin files for their respective hosts, but they will also create their own version-specific folders for all additional items, from presets to documentation. As such, the two will be able to live side-by-side without any problem on the same system.

  • Jacob,

We actually just found an error yesterday inside the Units installer, which actually prevents this function from operating in the 10.5 environment (without Adobe also installed). This morning I was told that we re-uploaded the installer, this time with a version that was redesigned to prevent this problem.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Charlie,

We have recently confirmed that the AJA version 8.0 driver will function with Media 100 Suite 1.6.1. If you’d like you can go ahead and update to this version of the AJA Driver for your hardware.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Rich,

Does this problem occur over Alpha as well? If so, do you think you can send a copy of the RED project file and a copy of the logo to support@borisfx.com? You can put it to my attention, and I can take a look at it.

May 18, 2010 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Should I update

I would suggest doing so, not only for the slight update but also because this will act as a full reinstall of the software. I would personally suggest first Uninstalling 4.3.3 and then installing 4.3.4; I would also suggest running the Disk Utility on the boot drive before installing the Update, and also deleting the “Boris RED 4.3â„¢ Preferences” before launching the new RED 4.3.4.

You can simply delete that file from this location –
    Macintosh HD :: Users :: [ Current User ] :: Library :: Preferences
