I have no problems with MB Looks here on 5.5.2 but I am still on OS 10.6. Maybe its a Lion problem.

The real issue with Creative Cloud is whether it will work if you are not connected to the internet. Is it a monthly renewed licence that will work away from civilisation for the rest of that month?

I’m on a MacPro – ATi card for displays – nVidia for rendering – PPro5.5.2 – Latest LooksI used to be Jon Hiseman but I’m feeling better now.

I have the same problem, but only after updating 5.5 to 5.5.1 in order to fix an XML import problem from FCP 7.0.
Now I have no dynamic link and I am terrified of this idea that I need to go to another program(AE) in order to use all the plugins that I used inside FCP.
I’ve just finished a two hour music vid in FCP – it took two years on and off. Supposing I was near the deadline and this happened. Almost every clip used plugs that now only appear in AE. I’m scared – this seems too complicated a workflow for reliability and for me whatever the workflow, reliability is the only game in town when one is working to deadlines. I simply cannot take the chance that this link can ever get broken in either direction.
Why can’t all plugs written for Adobe run in both PPro and AE etc?I used to be Jon Hiseman but I’m feeling better now.

5.5.1 has fixed my problem
Original files from Sony EX3 – XDCAMEx 1080p25
Convert to Prores Proxy
9 screen multiclip edit in FCP 7.0.3
Collapse multiclip
Reconnect to original XDCAM EX 1080p25
Media Manage in FCP to Prores 422 (HQ) (not for better file quality but intend a lot of plug and color processing
Export a XML
Import into PPro 5.5 – crash as thumbnails are drawn
Update to 5.5.1 – The XML import works perfectly
Test: same procedure as above but export a XML at the Prores Proxy stage
Works perfectly in 5.5.1
Good Job.I used to be Jon Hiseman but I’m feeling better now.

Exactly the same problem here with prores XML from FCP7 – Everything imports fine and appears correctly on the Timeline- but as PPro starts to create timeline thumbnails, it crashes.
Mac Pro 3.1 (32or64bit) MacOS10.6.8 – PPro 5.5 + all updates.I used to be Jon Hiseman but I’m feeling better now.

Same problem here and the longer the edit sequence gets, the more annoying. As you add to an edit sequence you are always playing around at the end of it – now I’m learning to catch it on the last frame – doh!

I have the same kind of problem. I am working on a music DVD, shot in HDV at a venue where no colors are natural due to the theatre lighting. My eventual release will be in DVD.
I have a MacPro and 2x ACD/ second display via MXO
Its easy to color correct on the canvas but when I switch to the MXO output its rather like working in glue and the color is slightly washed out and overall lighter.
So I made a test DVD (via ProRes) and play it back on the new Pioneer 50″ 5090 KURO screen via the latest upscaling Pioneer DVD player and receiver. It looks EXACTLY the same as the MXO playback, color and brightness wise.
So I then look at the DVD in Apple’s DVD player on the second monitor and it still looks EXACTY the same.
In away I’m coming at this from a different direction – in view of the fact that I find color correcting using via the MXO quite notchy how can I set up the normal canvas output to roughly agree with what I am seeing via the MXO and Pioneer Screen. If I accept that the MXO output is correct why is the canvas so wrong?
Is there a way to put a specific filter on the whole project (or on every clip) and then globally remove it but nothing else before checking via the MXO and exporting?
Thanks

If don’t have Digidesigns Pro Tools installed on your computer this WILL NOT apply to you – if you have Read on:
Sony HDR-HC1 Cam
G5 2.00 Ghz/ 8Gb Ram MacOS 10.4.3
FCPHD 5.0.3
Digidesign Pro Tools TDM HD Accel4 vs. 6.9.3Problem:
1080i/50 HD format.
FCP5HD can see and control the camera OK but can’t capture any native HDV footage (not receiving data) when the HDV option is chosen in easy set up .
In order to capture the footage successfully you have to choose the Apple intermediate codec.
Solution:
Pro Tools installs the Digidesign Core Audio Driver(DCAD) so that when PT is not active, applications that by default output audio via the computer audio outs, can be routed via Digidesign hardware outputs (studio monitors.)
The DCAD is a plug-in [Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin] that installs in MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL folder
FCP5 also installs a plug in in this location [DVCPROHDAudio.plugin]
If you drag the DCAD out of this folder before booting up FCP, capturing via the HDV codec is fine although you lose the ability to hear the audio via Digi hardware. To re-enable editing with audio routed via the DCAD close FCP, drag the DCAD back to the HAL folder and reboot FCP. The Digidesign core audio driver is known to be buggy and recently Digi posted a CS update to fix amonst other things a problem with it and iMovie HD. Looks like FCP slipped through the net.
