Did the issue begin only after the driver update?

Or did you install the driver update attempting to address the already existing problem?

Obvious question, I know, but have to ask.

You could start with that setting and revise it, making a custom one for you.

Hi Zach. The “interpret footage” option is there primarily for telling Premiere what kind of footage you have, rather than what kind you want. It goes back to the days when folks would transfer from the camera into the system, and Premiere would auto-detect the format. For other import methods, you used “interpret footage” to tell Premiere what format footage you were importing.

For your project, you may wish to run it through Media Encoder and convert it to NTSC WS. Then edit and finish with that converted footage files.

    JUST FOUND THE ISSUE.

The layer has three effects on it, including the puppet tool. As soon as puppet tool is switched off, the issue disappears. So the puppet work will be discarded and redone.

Removing the Red Giant Quicklooks made no difference.

It appears we have isolated it to one layer with a PSD file. When that layer is switched off, the error disappears. Switched on, the error promptly reappears.

We have tried flattening the PSD to a PNG, also tried reducing size. No change. There’s nothing unusual about the file. It has transparency, it is set for and RGB/8bit colorspace.

    We are just stumped.

It happened, friend, because technology is here to “help us” and “make our lives easier.”

Auto-save just rescued me a couple of days ago, so I empathize!

When I do these, I handle video and audio separately. I may change the video clip speed right on the timeline, but I do the audio speed/pitch management in Audition. I am generally much happier with those results.

Not only are you downscaling resolution, you are going from progressive to interlaced. As long as you want it compatible with DVD players, there’s a limit to how much you can do.

One thing I would look at is re-capturing the footage for the DVD version with the computer set to a lower resolution; even as low as 640×480. Depending on the software, that may be an issue as well. It would also require a re-edit for the DVD version. But with reduced downscaling from the original, you may get a better result for DVD.

You’ll still have to endure the difference between progressive and interlaced, though.
