October 21, 2015 at 1:10 pm in reply to: Embed ISRC Code?

My understanding is the ISRC code is embedded in the metadata of the completed file.

As I understand it, you would need to complete your video, render out to the finished deliverable, then manipulate the metadata of that file to embed the ISRC code.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

Good start, but please tell us more.

What version of Premiere Pro are you running?

What media file types are you editing with?

    What CPUs on your system?

    What video card?

How much RAM on your system?

What storage do you have? How much space available on drives?

For cross dissolves, make sure you have the one you wish to use set as default.

With the playhead at the point between clips, right-click on the clips and select “Apply Default Transitions”. It will apply the default to both clips in both channels.

As for other effects, I think you will be looking at copy/paste.

  • Try CTRL+SHIFT+I and CTROL+SHIFT+O and see if that gets rid of them.

It looks like you have one standard def file and one high def file. So if you would like the material from both to fill the screen, you have two options.

1 – Make a standard def timeline based on the first clip. Scale down your second HD clip until it fits top-to-bottom in the composition. The left and right edges will be cut off, because the aspect ratio of your SD clip is 4:3, and your HD clip is 16:9.

2 – Make a high def timeline based on your second clip. Scale up your first SD clip until it fits either top-to-bottom or left edge-to-right edge. It will not look great, because you have to blow up standard def video. If you make it fit top-to-bottom, you will have black bars on the left and right of the screen, again because of aspect ratio mismatch.

Pretty much everything in After Effects must be rendered before it will play. It is not a realtime playback environment.

Press the numeric keypad “Enter” key t start a render. You will see a green line begin to extend left-to-right on your compositing timeline. When you have rendered the portion you wish to preview, it will playback.

  • The first thing I would try is dropping the “Dynamics” audio effect on it, and seeing if I can get a setting that adjusts things how I like them. Some compression and limiting may get the job done if you don’t have too much background noise.

When you indicated you “merge” them, do you mean you are placing them together on the timeline?

    If so. . .

Before you place the audio in the timeline, right-click it in the bin. Select “Modify” and set up the audio to appear in the timeline the way you want it to be.

I’ll pick one of those up, thanks.

The odd thing – we do have sync to the card. Each station has a blackburst generator for the computer and decks.

October 2, 2015 at 12:59 pm in reply to: Problems importing P2 proxy

I cannot speak to the proxy files issue, but do want to ask if you are right-clicking in the project bin and using the import command there, or importing through the Premiere Pro media browswer.

Importing via media browser is the way to go with P2 material. It really makes a difference.
