It is actually \Users\name\AppData\Local\Temp.

Hi Andrew – yes, that is my understanding regarding Fair Use and DRM. The precedent goes back to Disney vs. Betamax. Otherwise, none of us would be timeshifting much programming, and I am doing it almost daily, as are many other folks.

DMCA does indicate it is illegal to bypass DRM. Doesn’t mean that people will not do it. The most common method is insertion of a digital-analog-digital transition in the process. I am not endorsing that behavior, mind you – I simply acknowledge that people do it.

The dreaded temp folder, which must be dealt with manually (unless you write a batch file for yourself) may be the issue.

Navigate to users / (your name) / appdata / local / Adobe / temp. You may have a huge pile of temp files sitting in there, awaiting your disposal.

Some aspects of that would be dependent upon the law in country in question. In the US, DRM may not interfere with protected Fair Use, for example, and that includes recording for timeshifting.

I can’t speak to the particular case in question. One thing for sure, though – DRM can be circumvented. Your client should be aware that no copy-protection scheme is fool-proof, and that should be part of their expectation.

I would guess what is being described is a z-axis move from near-infinity towards and past the “camera”.

To get the text clean all the way through, You will want to create and render the move in After Effects with alpha channel, then bring it into your Premiere Pro timeline, and adjust transparency there (Opacity in Effects panel) to your liking.

That is, if I am guessing right. Easy to do. Just a little file rendering time.

Here’s a general idea of what I do. If you like it, you might wish to modify it for long-form. I am cutting mostly short-form.

I created a “-Project Template” folder set in the location where my projects and media go. The dash at the beginning of the folder name keeps it at the top of the folder list for easy locating.

I have a standard set of folders under that, which I sometimes customize depending on the project. I place all my media in this folder set as well. That way, when it is time to back it up or take it offline, I am just moving a single folder, and it all goes together.

This, combined with my preference settings in Premiere Pro and After Effects, make it a “piece of cake” for me. For example, the project file goes into the Premiere Pro folder. All Audition work in the Audition folder, etc. Imports folder handles anything being brought in externally, with subfolders for media files, etc.
