Jim, h.264 is a very compressed delivery codec, and I do not believe it supports uncompressed audio.

Time base correction is pretty straight-forward. It was a necessity in broadcast, and grew out of the reality that tape decks are mechanical devices.
Your broadcast devices (switchers, other tape decks for tape-to-tape editing) expected VERY precise timing for every single line of video in the signal. Video tape decks, being mechanical, just couldn’t quite do that.
Enter the invention of the time base corrector, or TBC. TBC’s were basically as much memory as technology could manage in the era combined with input/out timing circuits. It could detect the millisecond errors in line timing output from a tape deck. After all the tape reel motors and head motors couldn’t be perfect.
The TBC would shuffle that video information into a digital memory buffer. The TBC internal timing circuitry could use that buffer to re-time each line of video and send it out – precisely timed – to other devices.
Remember how multiple – generation dubs of old analog tapes could get kinda “wiggly” on the horizontal? That is an example of time-base errors building up over each dubbing generation.

I am with you on that. I can actually get a look on the shot I am very happy with.
For 22 frames. Then the roto simply stops. And I am back to the over-exposed BG.
Why is it rendering only 22 frames? The whole shot is only three seconds.
I’m getting a little brain-fried trying to figure out what I have missed.
First rough, without spending any real time on it. For a three second shot, I can clean it up and live with it. But I do want all three seconds!

If you could post a screen shot or capture that would help. Not clear on how the transparent part of the image can be “too” transparent.

You don’t mention what version of the Adobe suite you are using, but I think you are making this way too hard for yourself.
If you edit using Premiere Pro, simply use the Media Browser within the application to import your footage to your bins. Media Browser is familiar with the storage methods used by various manufacturers, and can go straight to the media without you hunting around at all.
My workflow is to copy the original media with all the original folder and files structure into folders within my project structure and import from there.
MTS stands for MPEG Transport Stream. It is generally MPEG-2 or AVCHD compressed video optimized for delivery over IP (internet protocol). It is popular in many cameras due to small file size relative to overall video quality.

For starters, have you tried clearing cache files? If you have upgraded to 2018 mid-project, weird things with cache files can happen. Delete them all, this will force the application to remake them.
Also if this is a mid-project upgrade, you may need to delete FX on the file and try doing it form scratch. Make a sequence copy so you can leave your original alone, in the event someone has a simpler fix.

Using Premiere Pro’s Media Browser should become a habit, not merely an option, with file-based media.
Copy over the entire file structure onto your video drives. I place it within a folder structure I use for each project. If I have multiple “cards” of video, I make a “Card 1″, Card 2” folder, and so on.
Media Browser is pretty smart; it knows the file structure of the vast majority of camera makers. It will automatically sift through that and give you easy access to your media.
It beats working for a living!
