After the 12-cores came out, Apple released an update for Final Cut Pro 7 to address incompatibilities caused by the fact that Final Cut Studio was designed for a maximum of 8 cores. I would assume that this incompatibility remains in Final Cut Pro 6 which has not been updated. It may therefore be necessary to upgrade to FCP 7 ($299) to fix these issues.

Have you tried going to ~/Library/Application Support/Compressor/Layouts and deleting the file Compressor.saved.moduleLayout? It’s worth a try.
Let me know if it works for you and I’ll add it to the next version of Compressor Repair.

With longer projects it really pays to reduce complexity. My personal preference is to not use nests at all, but if you are going to use them, organize them into reels of around 20 minutes each. That way you only end up with 5 or 6 instead of 70.
And always strive to keep your Final Cut Pro project under 100 MB. Once a project file gets too big, I create a “lite” version with just the essentials in to keep file sizes low.

70 nested sequences??!! No wonder it’s unstable. What is the file size of your project?

Just for the record, Preference Manager can only restore preferences for the current major version of Final Cut Pro. You can’t transfer version 6 prefs over to version 7 – FCP will just ignore them (this is not an issue with the other apps in the suite btw).

For what it’s worth, version 1.3b2 of Corrupt Clip Finder now flags up images larger than 4000 pixels.

Are you sure it is definitely a droplet and not simply a file that OS X has assigned the wrong icon by mistake? It may be a movie file OS X is trying to open in an existing droplet elsewhere on the drive. If it is truly a droplet you should be able to ctrl-click it and select Show Package Contents to see inside it.
