It just looks like you’ve moved the clip to the side, have you done anything to the actual composition that has been put in PPro?
You can select the AEP DynLink clip and Go to Edit>Edit Original to see what has been done to that actual composition.

If you are running CS5, have you got the latest updates installed. This was a known issue that was dealt with in updates. I think its upto version 5.0.4 now.
I am running CS5.5 and have not had any issues like that.

Chances are the default settings for sequences are being used and they are for 3 Stereo Audio Tracks. The footage you are using is most likely Mono or 5.1 and in order to add these audio clips to the sequence a new track that matches the audio type is created on track 4.
To clean up the space you can right click on the track names area and select delete tracks, then tick the all empty tracks box and OK, the tracks that have nothing on them will be removed and you can see your working tracks at the top of the Audio Track UI again. 🙂
This works for Video Tracks too.

Sorry if I don’t quite understand your question…
PPro CS5.5 now places the playhead at the newly created edit point when using the extract function.
[placing in and out markers on the timeline and hitting the extract button in the program monitor or shortcut key ‘ with active track/s, the content from the gap between the in out markers is stored in the clipboard for pasting and the gap left behind is automatically ripple deleted. In previous versions of PPro the playhead stayed where it was in the timeline just before the extract was performed. FCP didn’t have this issue and it has been adjusted to match FCP since PPro CS5.5]Is there another part to your question I’m missing?

What is your setup for hard drives? Are you playing the transcoded clips from a fast external drive?
Mbp c2duo may not be quick enough. Working with native ex.files from the camera (no transcodibg required) is what PPro is made to work with.
Quarter playback resolution should get you by, so I would look at the setup. Maybe verify your drive permissions and try using a FW800 ext. drive.
FullHD needs a bit of power. 🙂
Let us know how you go. Could be the graphics card drivers too. Old cards…. Apple write the drivers so you may not be able to update…

1. You can select all the clips, right click and select the option to “Scale to Frame Size” that will snap them to fit to the height dimension, then you can alter them from there or you can alter them via the Effect Controls with Motion> Scale and find the value that allows them to fit. You can select the clip that is now corrected for and “copy” (Edit>Copy) then select the rest of the clips and right click to apply “Paste Attributes”. They will all accept the scale changes you made and copied from the 1st clip.
2. Depends on what you want to do there. Straight cuts usually work fine if the sequence of shots connects well enough to simulate motion. (More detail on that would help).
3. If you have the clips in the sequence already you can select them all and right click the group and select “Speed/Duration…” then set the length of each frame and check the box to “Ripple Edit”
4. Generally working with the dimensions you want to output to is the way to go. FullHD 1080, 720HD, SD/DV for DVD output… (Let us know more here)

Have you tried to clean the cache from the Preferences? Then allow the indexing, conforming etc to finish before working? It looks like a dropped frame from HDV capture. usually a recapture of that section will correct this, but it sounds like you are working with a file that already exists. This could be problematic.
What is your process here…?
Is it appearing after you render out or in the original media?
