Hey Tom,
I can only imagine, just thought as we all want the same things, I’d try to give a ‘gentle’ reminder that the folks that run this site do give out warnings and I have seen you give some great productive feedback, amongst so many others. We all want the same thing, a product that we can be proud to use in the toolkit and a healthy communication with the users/developers. I feel that Adobe have been responding to the needs of the users and working towards providing a product that stands on its own. More work to do, there is never “no more work to do”, and these forums are constantly being resourced by all concerned.
Hope I didn’t sound like a wet blanket, I’ve had my own “moments”. Apple’s decision has certainly created an “interesting” point in time for video and plenty of attention in Adobe’s direction.

In my cross platform experience for whatever reason (OS backend permissions? for developers) I don’t really know, but there does seem to be a better single file as reference to all other assets in PC than that with Mac.
Filing Bug reports and Feature Requests is the best way to communicate with Adobe Development Teams. Keep in mind that the PC version of Premiere Pro has had version 1, 1.5, and 2 only on PC and that CS3 was the first time back to Mac.
Patience is a virtue. This space is supposed to be productive and if you aren’t already aware the host of Creative Cow can and will suspend your accounts if things get too heated.
Passion is great, using this space to vent is counter-productive.

Hi Lisa,
There was an issue in CS5.0.0 with Render Files being part of the Project prproj file saves that got fixed in an update, make sure you are running the latest update to get the fix.
PS: Anyone who has never done a Wedding video with two cameras has no idea the amount of work involved in making a high quality video that can run into the feature length duration (70+mins). I have absolute respect for Wedding Video Production companies only ever doing 1 video!

Thanks Joseph, you hit the nail on the head. Adobe respond best to bug reports which they openly have access for all users to submit.
A work around is better than nothing, in my experience workarounds tend to become common knowledge and when the bug is fixed (this goes for all NLE makers) the users don’t even change habits as they are too busy working with what works and meeting deadlines. 🙂

I always select the Project panel in FCP and then export XML and use version 5 and select the box to add all outside media (whatever the option is… ) I’m on PC right now 🙂
It works fine for me…

[I have to import several images (hundreds) into my timeline.]
– GREAT! No problem.[Once imported, I have to adjust the scale and duration of each image]
– Is this process to be the same across all clips or random?[I then have to adapt a fixed cross dissolve between each image to create a moving slide show]
– Are you planning to just have the “motion” of each clip in the sequence to blend (cross dissolve) into the next clip?[Is there a way to duplicate/save each of these settings/effect parameters?]

– Here goes:If you already have the clips in a timeline that’s cool.
You can select all and right click on the selection and go to Speed/Duration. In here set the duration length to desired length and tick the Ripple option on the bottom. Hit OK.
All clips will have moved to desired duration and no gaps will show 🙂For motion animation that can be used as a preset I suggest working on one clip and animated how you feel it would best scale and position, rotate, anchor point etc to taste. Then select the “Motion” parameter name in the Effect control panel while the clip you animated is selected. Go to the top right of the frame (panel) and hit the little menu list icon. Select “Set Preset” Then name it to describe the movement (for personal ref) and set to In Point. This will make a new preset that when dropped onto a clip or mass of selected clips will reference when/where the animation effect will start based on the In point of the instance of the clip/s in the timeline. (Very Cool).
Make a couple of other ones to taste so you have some kind of differences for shots to not be the same movements across all, that’s just boring 🙂
Repeat the actions to set a new preset.You can select a heap of clips and then drag and drop the preset of choice onto the one of the selected clips in the timeline and see the motions apply across all. 😛
Repeat with alternative clips to drop the other preset motion/s you make.
Then you can select all clips in the timeline and apply the “default transition to selection” option found under Sequence Menu>Apply Default Transitions to Selection.
Be sure you are happy with the default transition and have the Preferences for it set to the duration you like – found in the General section of the Preferences.

Hi fellow FCP users now using PPro. This feature is not in current versions however I know it has been added as a feature request many times since the mass migration. The more its requested the more its likely to come 🙂

Have you tried dropping the edit as a nest into a 25p timeline and make sure it looks clean in the program monitor without any frame blending then export…

There is no need to “test” the ATI card only config for Software only Mercury option in PPro. Unless you have one of the supported CUDA cards from nVidia you won’t get any GPU Accelerated option with an ATI card as they don’t use CUDA technology and aren’t detected at all in PPro.
