Hi All! I have an extremely frustrating problem with a LARGE project I’m right in the middle of. I can open the project, and I can manipulate things within the project, but when I try to “save” my changes, my processor starts working overtime, and the program gets stuck. The only way I can get out of it, is to “ctrl-alt-del”.

I have opened other projects; they are working fine.

I have tried saving this big project to another hard drive, and opening it from there, but it does the same thing.

I’d like to know if it’s possible to create a project that’s just “too big”?

This is a recent wedding I did, and I’m right in the middle of it. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this problem, or any suggestions? Anything would be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Lisa

I doubt a wedding video will be as large as a feature-length project, and those save fine…. A few suggestions: Have you tried using Save As… instead of just Save… ? Have you tried importing your existing project into a clean project and saving from there? Have you tried deleting your PPro preferences?

Just for the fun of it, maybe you can export an XML of your entire project, and then import that into a clean PPro project. Maybe that will “clean” it of whatever’s causing the trouble. Lots of fun! (Not really, I know.) Let us know how it works if you try any of these crazy ideas….

Just a quick update. I decided to try deleting my render files…..and guess what? Problem is solved, except I’m not not sure what’s going to happen when I go back and have to render the files again.

    Hi Lisa,

There was an issue in CS5.0.0 with Render Files being part of the Project prproj file saves that got fixed in an update, make sure you are running the latest update to get the fix.

PS: Anyone who has never done a Wedding video with two cameras has no idea the amount of work involved in making a high quality video that can run into the feature length duration (70+mins). I have absolute respect for Wedding Video Production companies only ever doing 1 video!

Yes.. very true. I had actually found some instructions to download the patch from Adobe right after I posted my initial question, so I have already done that.

This was the first wedding I’ve attempted in CS5 with an HD camera. And you mentioned having two cameras….well I had three. Ha! It may seem like overkill, but it gives me three views, and if I miss something with one, I have it on the other (hopefully).

I’ve done quite a few weddings in previous versions of Premiere and have never run into this before, so I didn’t know if it had to do with the HD footage, or what?

(My weddings range from 50 to 70 minutes (not including the ceremony).

Hopefully, after applying this patch, it will all work fine! 🙂 *I have to admit, I had a little bit of a panic there, since this client had requested this be done in about a month* ha!!

Thank you all for your help!!!
