A Neyrinck D-Control Console

Neyrinck Brings D-Control Consoles Back to Life on AppleĀ Silicon with D-Control Basic

New V-Control Pro feature restores basic ProĀ Tools control for D-Control owners on modern Macs

Neyrinck today announcedĀ D-Control Basic, a new feature inĀ V-Control ProĀ that lets studios keep using their Avid D-Control consoles to control ProĀ Tools on AppleĀ Silicon Macs. ProĀ Tools no longer supports D-Control on AppleĀ Silicon systems, leaving owners of these large-format consoles with capable hardware and no path forward. D-Control Basic gives that hardware a job again.

D-Control Basic brings the same feature set V-Control Pro already provides for D-Command consoles to D-Control frames — transport, motorized faders, panning, mutes, solos, record arming, track selection, automation modes, sends, inserts, and plug-in editing.

Honest about what it is

The name is deliberate. D-Control Basic is not full console integration, and Neyrinck is upfront about the difference.

ā€œWe named it Basic on purpose. D-Control is a big console, and this connects to ProĀ Tools using HUI, which is a very good protocol, but a large part of the frame stays dark. What we can give you is a working console instead of a dead one — faders, transport, pan, automation, sends, inserts, and plug-in editing on a machine you can actually still buy. For a lot of rooms, that’s the difference between keeping the desk and pulling it out.ā€ā€” Paul Neyrinck, founder of Neyrinck Audio

Because the integration duplicates the D-Command implementation, only the bottom two rows of encoders on a D-Control channel strip are active; the top four rows are inactive. Full details and a complete feature chart are published atĀ neyrinck.com/v-control-pro/.

What works

•Transport control
•16 or 32 motorized faders (0.1Ā dB resolution)
•Pan, mute, solo, record arm, and track select
•Automation modes
•Sends A–E (with flip to faders)
•Inserts A–E on strips 1–8
•X-Mon monitor control remains fully active

What does not

•Reassignable focus strip
•Dynamics, EQ, and soft key sections
•Sends beyond E
•Inserts beyond E on other strips

Configuration

D-Control Basic supports one D-Control Main unit plus up to two Fader Modules, for a maximum of 32 channels. Devices connect over Ethernet and are added as controllers in the V-Control Pro Setups window. ProĀ Tools is configured for two or four HUI banks depending on the frame size, with each Fader Module counting as two 8-channel banks.

D-Control Basic is for ProĀ Tools. Other DAWs and media applications are not supported at this time with a D-Control console.

Pricing and availability

D-Control Basic is available now and requires aĀ V-Control Pro PlusĀ 2Ā license, priced atĀ $299Ā (regularly $349) as a perpetual license with no subscription required. Licenses activate on an iLok USB key or directly on the computer. Mac and Windows installers are available today.

AĀ 14-day free trialĀ is available so D-Control owners can confirm the fit with their own frame and ProĀ Tools rig before buying:Ā neyrinck.com/v-control-pro
