Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 software only will only capture/ingest via firewire either DV or HDV, you will need to get a thrird party I/O card for capturing in anything else 🙂

Shouldn’t be a problem.

Multi-format tapeless media is what Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 is all about 🙂

PS: Tapeless just navigate to the harddrive folder/structure to access the recorded assets.

What format are you planning to shoot with?

Tapeless formats work as they are and you can make new sequence from clip in CS5.5 so the sequence matches all the properties of the clip/s in the edit.

This is starting to sound like Video Card Driver issue. A 7200rpm internal drive should be giving you plenty of muscle if you drop the resolution down.

Make sure you search for the last known driver that works properly for your card model and PProCs5.5

Or you could have bad RAM. Did you build/upgrade this yourself? If there is a mismatch in RAM modules, there’s a heap of rules when using multiple sticks in certain DDR types etc.

There was a 5.0.4 update but I think it was only for Mac:

DL and install manually or use the updater from Help>Update…

Hmmm. Strange. Can you bring it into AE and get the correct duration?
– Perhaps if that comes in properly there, export as Uncompressed first then use that as a Master for the WMV via AME?

Hi David,

Any changes are worth being aware of, especially if it involves the display side of your setup. I’d say something happened in there. iMac’s really arent designed for the multi-screen setup outside of the two (iMac +1 external).

Let’s try going backwards one step at a time… 🙂

– Either uninstall the driver you tried for the 3rd (USB connected) monitor or reinstall the driver for the iMac.
– Time machine would be great here if that has a step back for the driver install.

See how we go here, try to run PPro without the external monitor attached at all. Then shut down system. Reconnect the Monitor, get the extended setting working, relaunch PPro.

Heres the problem. Currently using a clip in the source that is actually affected directly in the sequence (clip in seq then double click to see in source monitor) and hitting marker shortcut stops playback.

The work around here is to activate the track the clip is in, hit M key to open the matched frame of the master clip, not the instance being used in the seq. Then play and hit marker shortcut * as often as you like.

You can then perform a replace with… to get the new marked clip to replace the instance in the edit.

1. Did you perhaps alter the resolution after launching PPro?
2. Are you seeing a little Yellow Hazard Icon in the bottom right, it may give you a message related to the situation (and others)
3. Could you perhaps have disconnected or stopped the Extend Display option and had it set to duplicate or off for a moment?

Usually a restart gets things back on track, just make sure the monitor is in Extend mode and not Duplicate and the connection is solid.

Maybe it’s being interpreted as the incorrect frame rate inside the adobe apps?

How did you convert it to WMV? Or are you talking about the MPEG?

What version of Adobe Products are you using?

WMV format is pretty outdated…. Powerpoint is pretty outdated…
(alright that wasn’t particularly helpful. honest. but not helpful)

What is the Hard Drive setup for the media? Same as OS and Apps, external USB 2/3, Firewire, Second Internal, eSata, RAID 0/1/5?

4 Gig is not much for HD editing – 8 would be better.

HDV is only about a 25Mbps same as DV. Canon’s FullHD is more like 50Mbps so that Hard Drive needs more speed than say USB 2, which would work ok for DV, but maybe not so for H.264 from DSLR.

Are you running the latest update?

Are you working within a native Sequence for the DSLR footage?
