Either one of the processes I suggested is the way it works. They are uncompressed options as compression and alpha dont work in avi.
How are you coming to the conclusion that it’s not working? The millions + alpha channel is based on nothing being under the layer with some of it removed.
It is different to AE, following the steps above is how to do it, there is no preset uncompressed alpha like AE.

Pretty sure the Windows Media capture is locked to AVi. PPro is.
FCP can read the avi DV format it has a whinge, but it can use it.

For AVI – Follow this:
File>Export>Movie>Settings
General> File Type> Microsoft AVI
Video> Compressor> None
Color Depth> Millions+ of colors

Or and Image Sequence
File>Export>Movie>Settings
General> File Type> Targa/TIFF/
Video> Compressor> None
Color Depth> Millions+ of colors

QT formats don’t import properly to PPro when they have alpha channels.
If you want to use QT follow this: (will work in AE)
File>Export>Movie>Settings
General> File Type> Quicktime
Video> Compressor> None/Animation/PlanarRGB/PNG/TGA/TIFF
Color Depth> Millions+ of colors

The key ingredient is the Millions+ the + is the alpha channel.

1. Try Export to EncoreDVD.
2. Export to Adobe Media Encoder> Select your MPEG-2 Settings
3. Then import the Mpeg-2 into EncoreDVD.

If you select the clip in the project tab and hit the play button next to the icon at the top of the panel it will play out.
If you don’t hear sound, but are supposed to – check the specs next to the little playback window. It will mention if there is audio. If you don’t hear or see that audio is embedded into the clip – it has none.
Retrace your/the steps from exporting in Vegas.Make sure you have selected audio to be part of the export.
Do a test with another codec like DV or uncompressed and compare it to the cineform one.
If the different codec works redo it with the cineform codec but only a sample like 4-5 secs worth. Check that version when you import like I mentioned at the start. If all is good try the whole clip export from Vegas with the cineform codec. It should work if the tests come out right.
If not shave a frame on each end of the exporting clip.

Litzwire, I’ve had a hard day, I apologize for being a painus in the anus about the targeting.

I misunderstood. Adding a clip to the layer can only be targeted to one layer. FCP’s delete function kills all layers in its path unless you lock the layer.

I’m not out to jack up that premiere pro is the be all and end all. It is a powerful tool and yes there are plenty of things I’d love to have added. One being able to remove all attributes on all selected clips.

It appears you’ve had a nightmare run with this software and for that I’m sorry you’ve been introduced to this app that way. I had a similar experience when I started using FCP. I was used to working with motion graphics and 3D in image sequences. It drove and drives me mad that FCP doesn’t allow image sequences – have to be imported to QT pro and output as a mov.

The audio abilities for this app are way underrated tho. the ability to apply multiple switchable (on/off) effects to an entire audio layer freaks my FCP mates out. Including the Bus abilities.

Consider this a virtual beer buy from me to you. I really want to help you find the fastest solutions.

Make sure the video clips are running at the correct frames per second.
In the Project Tab;
1. Select the clip that is having problems.
2. On the top right you’ll see the specs. SHould have frame rate video frame size etc.
3. If it is wrong (not PAL 25 or NTSC 29.97) and more than it should be that will cause it to run fast in the timeline.

To fix it;
1. Right click on the clip in the project panel.
2. Select ‘Interpret Footage’
3. Select and change the frame rate to the appropriate one.
4. You can select all the clips, make the same selection as point 2. and it will apply to all the clips together.

1. Try to import it into another project.
2. Go to the Autosave Folder and pull out the last auto save
3. Your mac is upset you’re not using FCP – start again.
