    Hi Gus,
This is definitely a QT version error. I’m assuming you are using vers 7.4? That is the problem. Go back to version 7.3 you won’t have any render/export errors.

I had experience with a similar problem where a client supplied the file with outlined text. they had a white BG they didn’t want. So as i deleted it I found heaps of other junk in the white BG. So I put Illustrator in View Transparency Grid and could see all the crap. Once I cleaned it up there were still some bits coming through on the top of the frame. So I added a clear box behind the text bigger than its own bounding box size. That seemed to fix it.
This was all on a mac version of PProCS3. The issue didn’t seem to be there in my PC version. If the text isn’t doing anything then why don’t you use it as a PSD file? Then replace it in the timeline.
This is a typical AE looking project for me – AE doesn’t have any issues with Vector Graphics.
    Hope my story helps.

AE is where I would do something like this, but there is a way, a nasty way to do it in PProCS3 if this video I’ve posted is what you are refering too. link here
You need the Basic 3D effect on a text layer that is set to roll, then right click the text layer to open the Frame Options. “Reverse field dominance and none” will give you a nice look.
I put a gradient in the background with a box in Titler that was filled with a gradient and stretched to fit the shading into the window the way I liked it.

G’day Bill I would bet money you’ve upgraded your QT to 7.4. You need to go back to 7.3. I did and had no probs exporting.

You havent mentioned what format you are working in? DV or HDV. I’m assuming its DV. If so you would export a Movie using DV NTSC or PAL depending on your projects format. NTSC is Americas Japan and some other countries running 29.97fps. PAL is 25fps and is in most other english speaking countries and europe.
You must check the settings on export as it won’t automatically use the same one as your project (which should be addressed by Adobe).
Once you’ve done that try importing it back into the project you edited in. The size should be ok.
HDV is a different story. If you are using HDV you need to mention that in your next post.

Do it in h.264 quicktime MOV
    Export>Movie QT H.264
That should give you a beautiful image.
mp4 is whack. mov files on the net, everyone wants to download it while working and save it on desktop as mov then watch it when they have a break.

March 11, 2008 at 12:23 am in reply to: Centre Cut from Widescreen

You must render out the clip in sq pixel widescreen ie:
Original clip 720×486 with 1.2 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio. It falls off the sides.
Rendered out to 864×486 with 1.0 sq pixel aspect ratio will render out a scaled 16:9 (using motion to squash a widescreen image into the frame) to fit 4:3 inside the pillar boxed (black sides) frame. You need to keep it falling off the sides and export it again at the 864×486 sq pxl ratio.
That will come out as full widescreen.
PPro knows the frame is being streched to the extra width 864 Vs 720 and reads whats there on export so a 4:3 shape will be pillar boxed because its blank outside the 4:3 frame.
You’re question doesn’t make clear what you have and what you want so I hope I guessed correctly.

    For 16:9 watching on QT.
    1. Keep the 1.2 aspect ratio spilling the image outside the 4:3 screen.
    2. Export QT with 864×486 sq pxl ratio.

For 4:3 Zoomed in version on QT.
    1. Keep the 1.2 aspect ratio spilling outside the 4:3 screen
    2. Export QT with 720×486 0.9 DV aspect ratio

March 10, 2008 at 2:12 am in reply to: Using HD captures in Premiere Pro CS3

    Hey Jack,
I too have the z1, great camera. I use the HDV recording funciton all the time and have had success at bringing in the HDV capture in. I do find the camera output set to DV and HDV sometimes catches me as I tend to edit in DV from the captured HDV tape. You will need to be sure the HDV project settings are correct and the Camera is setup to output to HDV too. Hook up the camera with it off. Then start up PPro and setup the Project/open a previously made HDV project. Switch on the camera. Ignore the capture method choices popup window. Go back to PPro. Hit F5 to open the Capture window. Make sure the camera settings are set to HDV control. If you hit play it should be playing in 16×9 and you should be seeing it on the screen.
If this aint happening you should first reinstall PPro and if still not working right – contact adobe about the problem. You computer might be having hardware issues? I have had this camera about 9 months, its awesome and I’ve not have issues with PProCS3 on the PC with it. Hope it gets sorted for you in time for your deadline.
