  • Trying to create the RSS Visualizer text effect

Posted by Chris Wright on March 11, 2008 at 9:44 pm

Hello. I’ve been asked to create a short, 2 minute video with text that flies in, similar to Apple’s RSS Visualizer Screen Saver. Is there an effect in Premiere Pro that would work best in this situation? Or maybe a plug in for Premiere that would make text look like an RSS News Feed?

    Thanks!

You could keyframe several title layers with the basic 3D effect, animating the position, y rotation, and tilt, and probably get what you are looking for, but I hope you have some time on your hands.

This would be easily done in AE.

AE is where I would do something like this, but there is a way, a nasty way to do it in PProCS3 if this video I’ve posted is what you are refering too. link here
You need the Basic 3D effect on a text layer that is set to roll, then right click the text layer to open the Frame Options. “Reverse field dominance and none” will give you a nice look.
I put a gradient in the background with a box in Titler that was filled with a gradient and stretched to fit the shading into the window the way I liked it.

like my cohorts I would like to encourage you to do this in AE, trial version available here:

And here is a tutorial that should help:

Or do in flash, export as AVI or TGA sequencee if possible, import into PPRo. (There is a converter that will convert swf2avi as well that can import swf and make it .tga sequences with transparency.)
