If you are using PPro on a Mac or Pc and take the complete project. To another computer, either mac or pc and they are the same version of premiere pro (CS3 or CS4 are only one’s on both Mac and PC) there should be no difference. It should open up exactly as it was on the other computer.

DV and Standard Definition Widescreen is not actually 16:9 square pixels. So the shape you see (4:3) is correct. The TV is what pushes the squashed (tall skinny) image to the correct width to make a circle look like a circle and not a tall oval. It’s called anamorphic.

You can copy the seq in project 1 and open project 2 paste in the project panel and all the media related to just that seq will come in too. Yes it is awesome 🙂

If you are trying to do a final mix then why not do it in Audition?
Do it the old school way…
1. make a sync video in h.264 or avi with some compression to it… your choice. (make sure the audio is embedded for sync)
2. export each audio track in solo mode (mixer panel) with each named to what they are doing (FX, ATMOS, DIALOGUE, VO, etc)
3. import the sync video with it’s audio and the individual audio tracks. And use the video/audio sync file to see that what you’ve got in separate audio tracks sync as they were in PPro.
4. Do your final mix here with the video track.
5. Export the final mix and import it into PPro as a WAV file with embedded project information.
6. Any changes that are needed can be made my selecting your final mix and “Edit Original”. IT will open the project it was made in and any alts that are made and then re-exported over the final mix will update in PPro.

Now Import … yes import your old project you’ve been working on.
Find the Sequence you edited. Open it by double clicking it in the project panel.

If you are able to bring in all the footage (mac captured and pc captured) and put them into a Premiere Pro edit timeline I’m sure they will look the same. MOV files watched through Quicktime can look crappy. Its a QT setting that watched DV video with Draft settings by default. PC players like Windows Media Player don’t have this setting, so the videos from the PC on a PC would look fantastic in comparison. But when you use the clips to edit in PPro they should both look the same.

Hi Mary,
1. Capturing DV video onto your laptop (spec’s show it’s a older laptop with little ram) might work ok, but probably not.
2. If you were to capture with a fast enough PC desktop/laptop the captured files would be Microsoft DV AVI based. FCP can edit AVI files from PCs, but FCP won’t see them in real time and will all require rendering, making editing frustrating.
3. You Mac is a G5, which means it’s a pre-Intel mac using a PowerPC CPU. This means you can’t have PPro on the mac. If you had a newer Intel CPU based Mac you could install PPro on the mac. PPro on mac and PC can use in realtime without rendering both Mac MOV DV files and PC AVI DV files.
4. In conclusion, it’s possible to do what you want, but I don’t think you’ll have a pleasant experience if you did.

Is this a trial version of the software? If it’s a full copy then I’d reinstall the software. It sounds like the install has become corrupted.
