[Graham Bernard] “Yah got iTunes? Stick through that and convert to MP4.”
I’m not sure if iTunes will convert to MP4 directly but Graham on the right track…
[Morgan Grimshaw] “How can i open M4A files?”
If they contain Digital Rights Management (DRM) you can’t open them in Vegas Pro because it doesn’t support DRM. Early iTunes music all had DRM. Now you can buy iTunes music without it.
If you need a non-DRM version, and the files are from iTunes and you are the owner, you can open the music in iTunes and ask iTunes to burn them to CD. Then you can import from the CD using Vegas Pro. Maybe there is a more direct way as Graham suggests but this has worked for me win the past.
If you do not have iTunes and you are not the owner, then you are out of luck.
BTW, this is one of the reasons I love my Mac. I can open any of my iTunes music in Final Cut Pro X without any problems. There is a beautiful simplicity in a system where everything just works together. 😉

August 10, 2016 at 2:27 am in reply to: Rendering problem regarding Transitions and FPS?Is it only the BCC transitions? Do Sony transitions have the same problem. It could just be that the BCC transition isn’t handling the difference in FPS correctly. Like I said, if you are delivering in 30fps your project should be set to 30 fps and all of you edits should be timed for 30 fps. It doesn’t matter what fps your source is. The project and render should match for the best results.

[Jeremy Garchow] “Learning when to use secondary storylines takes a while to understand and anticipate.”

[Michael Carter] “…and that non-track timeline is a nightmare of stuff leaping up and down every time you blade a cut. “
Actually if you use a secondary storyline as Jeremy suggests, you can blade a cut all you want and it doesn’t jump at all. It stays in it’s storyline. It’s almost like having mini-tracks.

August 9, 2016 at 12:57 pm in reply to: Rendering problem regarding Transitions and FPS?If you don’t want any surprises when rendering you should set your project properties to match your render properties. It’s really that simple. There is no way around this. It’s a math problem. If you are cutting a 1 second transition at 60 fps and then to render to 30 fps you will only get 1/2 of the frames and it won’t look the same. Don’t do it.

[Paul Gregory] “Current TV’s all come with HDMI input with which to connect to a TV. An ever increasing number of TV’s are now 4K. Are the reason nowadays still just as valid?”
Nothing has changed in the TV industry as far as color matching goes. If you buy 5 different HD or 4K TV’s from 5 different manufacturers and put them side-by-side and feed them the same signal I will guarantee you that no two TV’s will look the same. TV manufacturers pride themselves on the cleaver ways the employ to make blacker blacks and truer colors. No one cares if they actually represent the real image or not.
This is why you always want to color correct on a hardware calibrated broadcast monitor and not a TV.

[Steve Rhoden] “Probably you have pressed the Solo button (that little exclamation sign on each video tack) on one of the tracks.”

That would be my guess as well but it would also mean that at least one video track is not greyed out.
I agree a screen shot is needed to determine further (which you can host right here).

[Marinda Fourie] “Please can you give me step-by-step directions on importing an edit from Vegas into FCPX? “
Try the menu item: File | Export | Final Cut Pro X (*.fcpxml)… That should give you a file you can import into FCP X.

[Bret Williams] “But you have to admit mObject is about a lot more than 3D text.”
I have to agree. I originally bought it for 3D Text but the object import is really a cool feature and I purchased their bundle of objects which are really great for making motion graphics intros and stuff. So yea, I lot more than just 3D Text. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
BTW MotionVFX is having a 40% sale on mMorphCut. If you do headshot interviews or create any sort of monolog introductions, this is a *must have* plug-in. It will seamlessly combine jump-cut shots together saving hours of redoing takes. I can highly recommend it (I use it all the time).

[Mark Suszko] “It makes me wonder, do they know something I don’t? Like, next week Apple unveils the FCPX upgrade, including a feature that I just paid for in one of these half-off offers? “
+1
Wondering the same myself. Conspiracy theory? I know that I purchased MotionVFX mObject at a discount to get 3D Text right before Apple added native 3D Text to FCP X (which performed a heck of a lot faster too) so that was money down the drain. 🙁
I agree it makes you wonder.

Applying a Mask to the FX is All or nothing. You cannot just have it apply to some FX and not the others in the chain. This is unfortunate I agree.
