[Kris Kristorenz] “Fortunately I was able to play my video both VLC and WMV without any problem. However when uploaded to youtube, the colors are incorrect and lightning changes every frame.”

Sounds like a YouTube problem. Try sending them MP4 AVC/H.264 instead.

[john o flaherty] “Can someone point me in the right direction to remove hiss from Audio, What is the correct Plug in??”

Vegas Pro doesn’t have a plug-in for this. You need something that handles broadband noise. Sound Forge does have a Noise Reduction plug-ins that also works in Vegas Pro but you need to purchase Sound Forge.

I would look into Sound Soap. It’s a great plug-in that handles all sorts of background noise and isn’t too expensive.

[Don Cobble] “one other thing is “scatter shot” going to be ready for Vegas 14 if not, will it ever? or yes in time?”

Not yet, but yes, in time. We’re working on it.

[Don Cobble] “Sir John is open CL and Cuda issue going to remain true since Magix has taken Vegas and developing SVP14?”

I don’t know but I thought I read in a post from MAGIX somewhere that fixing the GPU problems wasn’t the first thing that they were worried about. I could be wrong.

September 19, 2016 at 9:10 pm in reply to: Old Vegas Projects on new Magix builds

[Antonio Salva] “I was reading another thread about long projects and saw you recommended rendering to MXF if you want to reconstruct smaller “scenes” into a larger project-do you still feel this is the best method for a large project.”

Yes, Vegas works very well with MXF files and using the HD422 50Mbps template provides high quality output fit for broadcast.

[Antonio Salva] “Also I read where you said this-“BTW, If you are running a business you should have daily incremental backups of your system. This way if an update causes things to fail you can always get back to the state you had the day before. Anything less, IMHO, is playing with fire.” By backing up do you mean making a ghost like copy of your C drive or should I be using Windows internal backup and restore?”

No, these are not ghost copies. I was using Acronis True Image at the time I made that statement. Once a month I would perform a complete backup (like a ghost) and then every day it would perform a daily incremental backup which was just the deltas from the day before. I would keep these from the last month and keep the full backups for 3 months. This allowed me to go back to any day for almost two months time or as far back as 3 months to recover.

I have since moved to the Mac and Apple’s built-in Time Machine does hourly incremental backups! I also still perform monthly full backups using Carbon Copy Cloner.

Old projects should open without a problem. VST, DirectX, and OFX plug-ins should not be affected. Scripts and Command Extensions will need to be modified to work with the MAGIX version of Vegas Pro.

If you are worried about script plug-ins working, I would stay on Vegas Pro 13 until the maker of your plug-ins release a version for MAGIX Vegas Pro 14. We at VASST are still working on these modifications.

September 18, 2016 at 12:57 pm in reply to: can’t dragAVI Files in Sony Vegas

I’m glad you figured it out. You could have installed 1000 codec paks and none of them would have had Fraps. This is why you need to understand the exact codec that the file needs and only install that codec. At least now you know the procedure for next time.

September 17, 2016 at 2:10 am in reply to: compatible graphics card

Vegas Pro uses OpenCL for GPU acceleration so the best cards to get are from AMD not NVIDIA. The AMD R9 380/390x would work very nicely as will the previous AMD R9 280/290x.

Note: that the MainConcept AVC encoder only works with very old cards (circa 2010). Nothing newer than ATI Radeon HD 6000 series or NVIDIA 500 Series will be recognized which could be why your NVIDIA 600 and 700 cards weren’t working.

So if you want to get the most out of GPU acceleration in Vegas Pro, you want an ATI/AMD card not NVIDIA.

September 15, 2016 at 3:03 pm in reply to: Reinstalling Magix Vegas Pro 13 on another Pc?

[László Kovács] “Those who need 3 or more system have sadly bad luck :(“

No, if you have more than 2 system you can deactivate one of your systems and activate the 3rd one. This is also how Adobe works. Only 2 systems can be active at the same time but you can install it on as many system as you’d like.

  • [Ansh Gujral] “Another problem I’m facing is even in nested projects I can use match move only from the beginning of the clip but I would like to match move somewhere in the middle of the clip.”

Sorry it doesn’t work that way. You can only use Match Move at the beginning of a clip. You need to make any clip that needs Match Move a nested project. Then put the nested project anywhere you want on your master timeline.
