You didn’t miss anything. It looks like Vegas Pro doesn’t support this camera. But there is software on the Sony website for importing the video from this camera, you might want to install it and see if it fixes the 4GB problem.

Yes, if you turn off looping it just repeats the last frame.

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. It doesn’t support all cameras but it supports all Sony cameras (as you would expect) and many others. Also, most cameras come with software to stitch these files back together. It’s probably on the CD that came with the camera.

No, I wasn’t clear. When I said “background” I meant the video or still image background that you would key into the frame on your timeline. For example: if you have a background with the light coming from the left casting shadows to the right… you do not want to place your key light on the right, causing shadows to your face on the left. Likewise if there is a light above on the left in your background shot, you do not want to place the hair light on the right (i.e, it needs to go on the left to match the natural light in the background shot.
Sorry I wasn’t clearer in my regional post.
You do still have to match the color temperature of indoor lighting and outdoor lighting. Nothing screams “green screen shot” more than when the background is outdoors, lit with natural blue light and you are shooting indoors with orange incandescent light.
So color temp and position are the things to match with the background plate on your key.

What doesn’t work? Vegas Pro timeline GPU acceleration uses OpenCL. To the extent that your NVIDIA card supports OpenCL it should work. ATI/AMD Radeon cards tend to support OpenCL better than NVIDIA so your performance might not be as good as an AMD card.
The Render GPU acceleration that does support CUDA only supports cards using the older Fermi architecture. It does not support any Kepler or newer cards. Basically that means the Geforce GTX 465 – 480, GTX 560 – 590 are supported and all other NVIDIA cards are not.

I would contact MAGIX Customer Support. I don’t know how they are handling the upgrade of Sony products but I’m guessing that you would NOT have to pay full price.

Actually it does if you import your media correctly. You should never have 4GB chunks. You should be using View | Windows | Device Explorer (Ctrl+Alt+7) or View | Windows | XDCAM Explorer (Ctrl+Alt+5) to import from your camera cards (depending on your camera).
If you are just dragging video files from the subfolders of your camera card onto your hard drive then you are causing this problem by not importing them correctly.

Can I reinstall Snow Leopard-will this fix my problems? If so, how can I do it.”There is no “uninstall” so you have a bit of work to do but it is possible.
Do you have a Time Machine backup? You could recover from that. Re-install Snow Leopard from the DVD and restore your files and apps via Time Machine. I believe that will not restore Yosemite, only your files and leave Snow Leopard in place.
If not, get an empty external drive that is the same size as your boot drive or larger. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy of your boot drive onto the external drive. Then boot with the Snow Leopard DVD and erase your boot drive and re-install Snow Leopard. When it gets to the point where it asks if you want to migrate from another Mac, plug in the external drive and select the option to migrate from another drive. Choose that drive and it will copy your files and apps onto your new Snow Leopard boot drive.
You should now have a fresh Snow Leopard installation with all of your files and applications as they were before. If it all works, use Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact copy of your new Snow Leopard drive and keep it in a “safe place”. 😉

Yea, I haven’t used Vegas Pro in over a year now. The last version I used for production work was Vegas Pro 12. I never did anything serious with Vegas Pro 13. I edit with Final Cut Pro X now 100%.

Move the bad files out of the folder they are in so that Vegas Pro can’t find them. That should at least get the project to open.
I would try re-rendering the bad files. Obviously there is still something wrong with their format.
