I don’t know why Sony support is being so fussy over Vista 64. Their web site says they support Vista and Vista 64 is Vista so I don’t see how they can say they don’t support it unless they specifically say Vista 32 only (which they don’t!) Perhaps they mean it won’t take advantage of Vista 64 (which it won’t, it just runs in 32-bit mode)
Just install the software and don’t worry. Vista 64 runs 32-bit applications just fine. I have tons of 32-bit applications running on Vista 64 without any problems. Considering that there are only a handful of 64-bit applications available, Vista 64 would be useless if it didn’t handle 32-bit applications flawlessly.

Glad you explained that. Unless you are specifically using a hardware card designed for this like an Aja card, you will not get an accurate representation that way. The S-Video out of your video card treats the TV like another PC monitor. The only way to get an accurate representation for DV with Vegas is to use firewire. Vegas sends the actual DV signal (as if it’s printing to tape) out the firewire. For HD you can use an LCD secondary display.

Yes, I have a Spyder3Elite and I calibrate my 2 LCD monitors every month. I love it! I could have gone with the less expensive Spyder3Pro but didn’t realize the difference until after I bought it. They both use the same instrument. The Elite software just has more options that I don’t even use.

Those vertical bars are called pillar boxing rather than letter boxing which is horizontal bars. This means the 16:9 aspect is lost. You can’t get it back with just scaling; you’ll have to stretch it which will look terrible. Also the bad interlacing is not normal interlacing artifacts, meaning it looks like it is beyond repair. I would have him export it correctly. That footage looks unusable to me. Hopefully someone else here will have a better answer.

That’s really strange. What type of media? Can you drop the same media into a new project and does it play correctly? The jump from Vegas 4 to Vegas 7 is quite large but the media should still play.

For those forums that you are the moderator, you should see the ability to select a green check mark next to the “Rate this post” icons. I see them on this forum because I’m a moderator but I don’t see them on other forms so you must be on your own moderated forum to see them.

Great! I thought that might be what you were talking about and it’s a new feature in Vegas Pro 8.0c which is not in Vegas Pro 8.0b or Vegas Pro 8.1 so not many people know about it yet.
