Don’t use the Copy Media with Project option. This is probably what’s messing thing up. Start a new project, save it without copying media and see if when you open it again the clips are OK.

You can also use Fusion in the Mac to run Vegas in a VMware virtual machine on the desktop. It will not capture via firewire (you need to use BootCamp to do that) but everything else should work.
If you want to stay with just Mac OSX then Vegas is not for you.

I agree with Mike. What you are experiencing should not be happening. It may be a bug in Vegas and the Sony team may be able to look at the project file and see what’s happening. I would contact them.

Vegas works just fine for stop motion. When you import the image sequence you also have to tell Vegas how many frames per second the images represent so that it can assemble them correctly. Once that is set, it should play back fine providing that the source images are not multi-mega-pixel. If they are, then scale them down to your output resolution before importing them.

Where did you get the source footage from?
What codec does the source footage on the timline use?
Does it playback on the timeline?
What codec are you trying to render to?

What is the source of the clips that won’t render? I would try converting them to another format and replacing them in your project.

Yes, that’s a true statement. You can use any music you’ve obtained legally on your own projects for your own enjoyment. What you can’t do is give that to someone else or show it in a public place. But any music for use at home is perfectly legal.

As Douglas pointed out, that is not legal. The reason is because any time you incorporate someone’s work into your own, you have made a derivative work and need to secure the rights to do so. When you purchase a music CD you are purchasing the rights to listen to it. You are not purchasing any rights to create derivative works from it. In the case of music and video, there is a separate license for syncing music to video that you must obtain. Then you’ll need another license to copy it and distribute it.

If Vegas Pro is within your budget then you can’t go wrong with that. If not, you’d be pleasantly surprised how much functionality is packed into the Vegas Movie Studio version. I would download the trail of both and see for yourself. They both have the exact same user interfaces and they both support your miniDV camera. Movie Studio is limited to 4 video and 4 audio tracks while Vegas Pro has unlimited tracks with more features. It’s really up to you to decide if you need the extra features or not.

This is why you can’t find the menu item Mike is talking about. He is giving you instructions on how to do this in DVD Architect and you are doing it in Vegas. Real subtitles are done in DVD Architect not Vegas.

There is no method to apply formatting all at once in Vegas. You have a lot of editing to do one-by-one.
You might want to do this in DVD Architect where it’s supposed to be done. Otherwise you will have to render a separate video for each language and it may not all fit on a DVD.
