Broadcast outfits that rely on shared projects and storage will gravitate toward Avid. Nobody…not Adobe, Apple, Lightworks, Smoke…can match the level of project sharing that Avid does routinely.

I don’t do this personally, but you can do this in Avid with a little trick. Just drop a garbage clip or a title at the end of your sequence and insert a bunch of filler, way more than your intended sequence length (source monitor menu) before it. Now you have a lot of empty space to play with.

In NYC, broadcast everyone is pretty much using Avid.. it was dominant before and still is. FCP Legacy is still there. Don’t know of anyone using FCPX or Premiere Pro. Don’t see many job postings for PPro or FCPX in the broadcast realm either. You do see them in lower budget and indie film job postings.

If you really wanna blow your mind, try FCPX and Lightworks next.
Also very different than FCP7.You really need to forget what you think you know from FCP legacy and immerse yourself in whatever new tool you decide to go with…if you want to achieve proficiency. Even Premiere Pro has enough differences to get you into unexpected trouble.

I’d think about doing a clean install. Clone your drive first, so you can go back, if you want.
Add programs one at a time. Will be easier to troubleshoot. You might have conflict or one program is messing up core audio for MC and Adobe.

If you have done a full clean install of OSX (where you back up your files and erase the drive) and you are still getting this error, you should get your computer checked out. sounds like the internal sound card may have failed.

“You have “skip media on target drive” selected, and your Ninja files are on the same drive as your Avid MediaFiles folder.
De-select that and your Consolidate will allow MXF media to be written.
