Open it in Quicktime Player and get info on it.
Several times I have encountered files that were encoded with AAC audio (believe it or not, some programs have that as the default setting!).
Sometimes, the problem is not the video.

Monitor output level from Media Composer can be adjusted via the Audio Tool.

BCC 8 works fine in MC7 and 8.x.. It doesn’t go away. No need to upgrade unless you need new features in BCC9.
You can keep your existing Avid FX, but not sure it will be 100 percent stable with MC 7 or 8.x.
Neither of these products can be upgraded via Avid as they are no longer bundled. You have to deal with Boris for upgrades,

Typing subsys monopane debug into the console temporarily allows loading of precomputes into the source monitor.
Not sure if it’s helpful, but it’s been one of those “secret” console tricks for many years.

If you don’t want to send out a single “flattened file”, it’s probably better to Send to FCP, then use Automatic Duck to get to Avid.
Honestly, Color has been discontinued for years. Probably better to start your transition to using Resolve on your next project, as there is a real workflow in place for that. Color never had a bulletproof workflow to go to anything else but FCP.

If you still want to go with Adobe, Media Encoder can encode to MXF OP1a in the DNXHD codec, and does so much faster than transcoding to the QuickTime version off DNXHD. After linking to these files via AMA, you can consolidate in Avid. I think I would still go with Resolve, but AME is not painful.

Michael would probably know better than anyone, but I believe PIP and the other similar old school DVE effects are pretty irrelevant these days and probably still exist to maintain backward compatibility with sequences created on old Meridien and ABVB hardware.
I rarely use the HQ button, as the render time is much longer and the payoff in quality is usually barely, if at all, noticeable. Your mileage may vary.
Didn’t realize AutoDuck converts to PIP. Maybe that was the simplest way Wes could come up with to translate the effect. I’ll have to see what the Boris Translate plugin does.

No, you need to open the effect editor and click the button. No way to do it in a batch, as far as I know,
Trying to see a scenario where it would be all that necessary. There is no visual difference that I am aware of between the PIP and promoted 3D Warp version, so there is no reason to promote unless additional parameters are needed. If you need to tweak the parameters that are available in 3D Warp, you have to open the Effect Editor anyway, and promoting takes only an extra nanosecond or two.

When in color correction mode, the remove effect button will only remove color corrections. You can select all and delete them
