It doesn’t just set the default for new sequences. It works every time the bin is opened.

Does it appear if you switch to RGB in your project settings?

The only destructive volume adjustments in Media Composer come from doing an Audio Mixdown, which “bakes in” every level adjustment you made.

everything else can be adjusted or disregarded in a DAW like ProTools. I think your guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

If you can live with quickly placing an in/out around the clip, all you have to do is press “T” to put marks around the clip, then “Z” to lift. Takes about a second.

Not in front of a system to test, but if you switch the color space to RGB, does ProRes become a media creation option in a UHD project?

  • Random thoughts…

If you export an AAF file with media from Avid MC, you can open that in Premiere Pro CC and it will play just fine.
Not sure if that is helpful to you.

Another thing…if you have Avid MC 8 and not an old version, you can capture in Apple Pro Res MXF on a Mac instead of using the old Avid 1:1 Meridien codec. This will speed up exports to Apple Pro Res QuickTime, as it’s simply a rewrap and not a transcode.

You did not say whether you have an Avid DX Nitris/Mojo. If you have a third party card (AJA, Blackmagic), you could use Premiere to capture Apple ProRes QuickTime directly. You could also just use the deck control software for your card (AJA Control Room or Blackmagic Media Express).

Hate to be the bearer of bad news…but your hardware/software may not be up to the task.

I freelance at a place that is running Avid 6.5x on older hardware and they really can’t transcode AVC-100 without issues. On my home system, running Avid 8.3 on a 12 core Mac Pro, its no problem at all.

If you can, try upgrading (or run the trial) of MC 8.3 and see if it helps, but your system may be underpowered regardless.

Adobe Premiere Clip for iOS projects can be sent to Premiere Pro, just sayin. I have no knowledge of what was actually used.

For perpetual license, you need to renew your support contract every year ($299) if you ever want to get updates.
If you don’t, your license is forever frozen at the version you have. Get it?

Yeah. Normal read and write …never had a problem, but I have had consolidating issues. It was awhile ago, the last I attempted it.
