Did you report this stuff…particularly the weirdness involving reverse speed..to Apple using the FCP feedback menu link?

Put as much RAM in your computer as you can.
With spots you probably dont have huge amounts of associated footage (compared to long form work). Personally, I would use one project with bins for each spot, but if you want to work with multiple projects you should be fine.

Sorry, my bad.
Compressor only does AAC. Its superior to MP3, but I can understand you needing to work with the more common format. -
Make a Compressor droplet…once you set it up, its a drag and drop process.

Drop frame is generally used for broadcast, as it gives you the actual running time of the program.
Non-drop is often used in film post, though I am not exactly sure why.
Check with who you are delivering to for the specs of what they want. Usually, you are good with Drop Frame.

The drop down menu only appears in codecs that are supported by RT Extreme.

Interesting. I guess the Quicktime 7 installer missed un-installing it somehow….I feel so cheated 🙂

Huh? Mine is still there and functions as it always has. MPEG 2 still appears as a choice in Quicktime Player 7 on my machine. I have FCP 5 Studio and Quicktime 7.02

I have never heard of any capture card being able to do a Standads Conversion on the fly…post on the Blackmagic forum to be sure of that one.
I can attest to the fact that the Nattress plugin does a wonderful job…..not Snell and Wilcox level, but much less expensive. He has a free trial version, so you can test it on your footage.
Compressor 2 also works well, but takes much much longer.

Tiffs can have layers (like .PSD’s) or use compression (LZW).
FCP only works with uncompressed, flattened TIFFS.
Open them in Photshop…make sure you flatten them, use no compression and use Mac Byte order. This is all in a dialog box before you save the file.
