JVC’s have a well deserved bad reputation, but I took a shot on one of these (got it real cheap on eBay), and its actually a pretty decent monitor once you get it calibrated.
If you are looking at this as a temporary measure, it might work nicely for you until something better comes along. Only buy it if you get a good deal though. -
The latest version of FCP (5.1.2) will crash on startup if you have third party Quicktime codecs installed (Avid, Media 100), or a Zaxwerks flag filter.
(Doesn’t happen on all systems, but have been reported by many people…including ME!). -

You dont need A.Pack. Use Compressor.
Its in the Compressor Help, on page 103.

I think you have Dynamic RT turned on. Once you add the audio filters you are reducing your overall RT capabilities, by using the processor cycles for audio effects, hence the orange line.

I think that once you add a reel number some sort of flag is put on the file that Media Manager recognizes, so even if you delete the number, the flag remains.

Do all your source items have a proper reel number?
Items without reel numbers (or reel numbers with gibberish characters) are treated like imported animation files and will not be trimmed.
Which version of FCP are you using. The latest one seems to have solved most of these Media Manager oddities.

This may be the cause. FCP (or any NLE) does not really do standards conversion.
